Following on from the deluxe reissue Vampyr'last year, comes Death And Vanilla's unreleased live score of The Tenant'on limited edition magenta vinyl. Originally scored by Philippe Sarde, this release sees Death And Vanilla reimagine the film's soundtrack four decades on for a new audience.

The haunting instrumental is a foreboding piece of dark and cinematic avant-garde music that's alienated, lonely and melancholic. Moments of hallucination and delusion mirror the lead character Trelovsky.

Recorded in 2015 at Cinemascore festival in Spain alongside a two-hour performance and screening of psychological thriller The Tenant'(1976). With the band at their most minimal, the accomplished musicians once again bring the dark narrative to life with their expansive and ethereal noir sound.

The recording features them as a trio - Marleen Nilsson (Farfisa Compact), Anders Hansson (Hagstrom Kent, Roland SP-404 and Technics SL-1200) and Magnus Bodin (Moog Prodigy and Musser M55).

Directed by Polish filmmaker Roman Polanski and based on the novel Le Locataire by Roland Topor, The Tenant'is the finale in his acclaimed apartment triology which included 'Repulsion' (1965) and 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968).

East Man is a new project from Anthoney Hart and its material predates his previous work as Basic Rhythm.

His unique take on grime reduces the sound to its steely fundamentals, bringing in influences from dancehall, drum and bass and techno to gird the voices of the MCs he works with.

His own name for this hardcore continuum mongrel is 'Hi Tek'.Anthoney struck a friendship with the academic and theorist Paul Gilroy, who wrote the album introduction.

The first time on vinyl Xemu Records re-masters and re-packages the follow-up to Legend of God's Gun, the classic concept album "The West"... Made with the classic line-up of Brian Jonestown Massacre alumni originally recorded in 2006 is long considered a fan favorite.

Spaghetti western is usually listed under the heading of band influences, not genres, although Kirkpatrick Thomas, the man behind the B-movie sound of Spindrift and the band's main songwriter and guitarist, might beg to differ.

He's taken his love of sun blasted landscapes, distorted twangy guitars, and squinty eyed heroes and villains and spun them into a shimmering, mirage-drenched ambience that can only be called psychedelic spaghetti western music.

The twisted musicality of Ennio Morricone's early work blends with the haunted noirish resonance of Bruno Nicolai (Morricone's arranger) and Thomas' own fevered vision to create expansive cinematic soundscapes made more for dreaming, or even hallucinating, than dancing, not that the music lacks energy or drive.

Brisbane duo Primitive Motion drop their third full-length for the Bedroom Suck label, this time leaving the studio door ajar to let sound flow between worlds internal and beyond.

The result is a meditative suite of dreamy piano-based songs, captured live at the point of conception and teeming with the incidental sounds of both the studio and garden.

Following the extended cosmic forays and short-form pop studies of 2015's acclaimed Pulsating Time Fibre, the duo of Sandra Selig and Leighton Craig have steered the ship to an interior sea, exploring the quiet reverie of Sunday afternoons spent in Selig's home studio in Brisbane.

With the record'button pressed, the days drift through the microphone, documenting the process of composition: the rustle of lyric sheets and unintended room sounds is accompanied by birdsong and an approaching storm.

The studio space itself becomes a palpable presence as Selig moves between rooms while playing her saxophone, the improvised melodies floating out of the studio, lilting and melancholic, a familiar whisper dreamt into existence.

In the process of reducing their sound world to the barest of instrumentation (at times just voice and piano), PM revels in the beauty of the unadorned song, creating the purest distillation of their dream-float'music to date. House in the Wave is a beautiful and intimate work by a band constantly evolving their sound.

The Bunny Tylers is a duo from Lebanon whose core consists of two prominent musicians from the Beirut scene: singer-songwriter and guitarist Charbel Haber (Scrambled Eggs, Malayeen, Johnny Kafta's Anti-Vegetarian Orchestra) and multi-instrumentalist and producer Fadi Tabbal (The Incompetents, Under the Carpet, Safar).

The group is a natural amalgamation of the prolific career of the two long-time collaborators, fusing Haber's songwriting sensibility with Tabbal's technical and instrumental know-how and tying musical loose ends from both musicians'past work.

Initially formed to score Nadim Tabet and Karine Wehbe's video essay 'Summer '91', they continued working in film scoring, art installations and their own releases.

Their 2^nd album 'Chance Meetings', recorded with the help of Benoit de Villeneuve in Paris, sets Haber's bleak songs and sorrowful voice against a backdrop of beats and textures spawned from the pair's post-punk, ambient and drone roots.

The result is a drug-hazy polaroid of murder mysteries and misspent youth, the last remnants of a Film Noir set in abandoned Lebanese coastal resorts.

The album is due for release in January 2018 by Lebanese label Ruptured and Cargo Records.

'The Two Worlds' was produced by Peter Broderick and recorded at Analogue Catalogue in County Down, Ireland.

Q Magazine listed the album as a "Top Tip" for 2018, stating "(The Two Worlds) is full of droning ballads laced with defiance."

The sadly topical first single, "Don't Shut Me Up (Politely)", seems to express what's on the minds of many women right now.

Tompkins Square's Josh Rosenthal noted on social media, "I don't usually have the opportunity to say something political about the music I put out, but in the case of Brigid Mae Power's new single, I think this song may resonate with any woman who's been gaslit, mansplained to, paid less, bullied, sexually harassed by a C-List celebrity or famous movie producer, had her birth control systematically taken away, or told she had to go to another country or across state lines to get an abortion."

"However you might try to find the words for it, Total Control's caustic charm is stunning and oblique. A sensible account of the band typically focuses on its parts'the associated groups, the touring configurations, etc.'as if finding ways by which Total Control is divisible gleans critical information for breaking through their cryptic sheen. With tonic, wry twists, and forever employing aphoristic brevity for the comic/cosmic dynamite that it is best reserved for, the band seems to indulge this with each new release, or tour, or whatever's put on the counter.

The band's European tour tape from 2015 was a sure reminder of this. Their new 12", 'Laughing At The System,' is a succinct statement, but it feels like the sharpest thing they've ever assembled. Written and recorded over the past couple of years in various lounge rooms, bedrooms, and rehearsal studios, across Melbourne, regional Victoria, and Western Australia, Al Montfort, Daniel Stewart, James Vinciguerra, Mikey Young, and Zephyr Pavey are'for the record'all accounted for in the process. 'Laughing At The System' is bookended by a title track in two parts.

The scattered mania of the opener is an unsettling beginning, with cascading madhouse-riffs somehow finding a ricocheting unison. The closing part has the familiar head-charge of Total Control's most gnashing moments, with the guitars balancing the equation between running-too-fast and drinking-too-fast in one queasy commitment. With a brilliantly acerbic wit, we're implored to gather that there's some equivalences here. And it's this kind of impulse that's kept up throughout the 12". Drizzled with Vinciguerra's fraught fills, which have the rare quality of being unmistakably his in both electronic and acoustic form, this punctuation comes in and out of focus between elegiac moments and breezy experimentation, the latter including the elated instrumental 'Cathie and Marg.'

Throughout, Stewart scripts a tumultuous wake for a flatlining reality, forever nudging the listener to second-guess themselves about the sincerity and intent. Far from cynical, but earnestly neurotic, the potency of the atmosphere that Total Control has mustered across 'Laughing At The System' registers as a deeply commanding, though bleak, psychedelicism for the future."

When Watter first appeared fully formed in 2014 as a trio featuring founding members of Grails and Slint, most assumed the mercurial group would vanish into the ether just like the foggy echoes of sound they crafted on their debut album, This World. Instead, they toured the US with their longtime friends in Om, and returned home to begin work on an ambitious new recording studio, from which their new album, History of the Future was born.

Located on the same tiny rural Kentucky road as the old Rove Studio, where many Will Oldham records were made, multi-instrumentalist Zak Riles'new studio - dubbed Earthwave - was literally built from the ground up on the rolling hills of his picturesque farm. It has quickly become a place of great inspiration and tireless creation.

Loaded with vintage analog gear and stunning views of deep sunsets reflecting across a serene lake, the studio has drawn many of Kentucky's most talented musicians in the spirit of collaboration, the fruits of which are on stunning display across the ten songs that make up History of the Future.

As with their first album, the songs on History of the Future evolved from many long days and nights of improvisation, experimentation, and collaboration. In many ways, the guests - which include, among others, Britt Walford (Slint), Dominic Cipolla (Phantom Family Halo, Torres), Rachel Grimes (Rachel's), Bundy K.
