NUBIAN ROSE, the Melodic Rock sensation of the early 10’s, is back after a long hiatus. Their new album, AMEN, will be released on the 26th of January 2024.
On AMEN, Nubian Rose show a more progressive side of the band, but with their trademark foundation of strong melodies, great hooks, big guitars, and the powerful voice of Sofia Lilja. While writing AMEN, Christer and Sofia wanted to challenge themselves to take Nubian Rose to new frontiers.
“AMEN sounds very different, but hopefully in a good way”, says Sofia. “As people we are constantly growing, so why wouldn’t our music grow? And what would be the point of making another ”Mountain”, or ”Mental Revolution?”
They wanted to cut all ”obligations” that creators very often feel because of outside expectations. “We wanted to let the music flow through us, not forcing the music out of us”, says Christer. We wanted to make a dynamic album and let all our sources of inspiration have a seat at the table.
The list of inspiration for AMEN is long and diverse, with everything from Judas Priest, Rainbow and Cheap Trick to David Bowie, John Carpenter, Dalbello, Stevie Nicks, and the amazing album ”The Wanderer”, by Donna Summer.
AMEN is packed with analogue, vintage, synths. The gain level on the guitars is turned down a bit. Some of the songs don’t even have a traditional chorus and for the first time Nubian Rose has written a song that is almost 10 minutes long.
But the more classic rock songs are also in the mix. The story of NUBIAN ROSE started in 2012, with their self-financed, low-key release of their debut album, ’Mountain’. With practically no pr, the album spread like wildfire in the world of Melodic Rock and soon they were featured in some of the greatest rock publications in the World, like Classic Rock Magazine, Burrn!! with outstanding reviews. Rockers like ’Ever see your face’ and ’Mountain’ together with the majestic power ballad, ’How am I', became fan favourites. In 2014 the band released their Sophomore album, with a slightly heavier sound.

NUBIAN ROSE chose Pedro Ferreira to record and mix AMEN in his SpinRoad studios outside of Gothenburg, Sweden. It was a perfect place for the huge analogue sound that they were looking for, with a Neve console, tape machines, a huge room for thundering drum sounds and a beautiful grand piano. Among a lot of other things, Pedro Ferreira produced the multi-platinum album, ”Permission to land”, by The Darkness. Some highlights from the album: ‘Memorial’. A short, emotional piece, where Sofia is experiencing her own death and funeral in the lyrics - ‘Dramatic Days’.
The album’s first upcoming single, with thunderous drums, big guitars, and catchy synth hooks, made for the arenas - ‘Break Down The Walls’. A high energy heavy rock tune, where Sofia brings out her inner fury - Bright Light.
For the first time, Christer shares the lead vocals department with Sofia - Lost In The Mist. A powerful, progressive track, almost ten minutes long.

In addition to Hanoi Rocks, Finnish rock legend Sami Yaffa, is known from his work with Michael Monroe’s band, Demolition 23, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts and New York Dolls. Sami released his first solo album, The Innermost Journey To Your Outermost Mind, in autumn 2021. Praised by the music press worldwide, the album also won the Emma ( Finland’s version of Grammys) nomination for the rock album of the year. Yaffa's second solo album, the mysteriously named Satan's Helpers War Lazer Eyes and The Money Pig Circus, will be released on Friday, March 8 by Livewire/Cargo.Visit product page →
"My first solo album, The Innermost Journey To Your Outermost Mind, was so well received that I simply decided to make another one. The recordings have taken a couple of years and took place in Finland, Sweden and Spain. In addition to myself, I have my touring band playing on this one, which includes guitarist Linde Lindström and keyboardist Burton of the band HIM, and my childhood friend, drum and percussion maestro Janne Haavisto, who also played drums on the previous album as well. Those guys became my permanent band, and with this line-up we got down to business. The songs on the album reflect the chaotic world we live in, my own personal strange experiences, and the sordid true stories of the past," says Yaffa.
The producer of the album is Yaffa himself, together with Erno Laitinen, who was also was the engineer on the debut record. Yaffa also got several familiar guests to join the recordings.
"I got some of my good old pals with me again, whose musical talents I admire enormously. I got Michael Monroe, Nasty Suicide, Dregen, Steve Conte, and Rich Jones to kick arse on the album. Rich Jones is also responsible for the album's wonderful cover art. Making this album was just as great a joy to make, as the previous one. I hope it will carry on to the listeners as well," Yaffa continues.

In 2000, M.E. recorded an EP with Andy Gill, played the 2nd Isle of Wight festival in 2002 and Glastonbury in 2003 before being personally invited by Slash to write/record in L.A.
That resulted in 4, yet unreleased tracks – including an early version of ‘Slither’. Eden then joined forces with Ariel Bender, aka Luther Grosvenor, (Mott the Hoople/Spooky Tooth guitarist) and toured the AB Band, supporting Rod Stewart in 2007.
He appears on the Mott the Hoople Family Anthology record, and Luther’s If you Dare album (2011). He then formed Men & Gods with long-term Seven/DNA collaborator Alrick Guyler who were signed to Pacific Records in 2011. Around this time, he formed The Peckham Cowboys with Guy Bailey (Quireboys), and Dale Hodgkinson who signed to Cargo Records.
Their album Flog It was released in 2011, and the second album - the critically acclaimed '10 Tales from the Gin Palace' - saw Marc working with Timo Kaltio (Hanoi Rocks), and Nigel Mogg (Quireboys) and Darrel Bath (Ian Hunter band). This album was nominated for 'Best Album' in the British Blues Awards 2014, whilst Marc was nominated for 'Best Vocalist'.
A live, limited-edition album: 'LIVE:WIRED!' taken from the Flog It tour was released in 2015. In 2017, Marc struck up a friendship with Peter Doherty of the Libertines who co-writes ‘Mother Mary’. The pair toured together in 2019 in support of Peter's new project Puta Madres, culminating in a date at London Forum that year.
Bang up to date, Marc is releasing his debut solo album featuring contributions from Alabama3, Congo Natty, and Peter Doherty.

Punk rock icon Richie Ramone is set to release his new album, “Live To Tell,” on April 21, 2023. It is his third as a solo artist, and early reviews are calling it his best to date.
“Ramones DNA is all over the record for sure,” said Richie, “But at the same time these songs are very personal to me. Addiction, depression and fighting our demons is something we all struggle with at times, and this comes through in a big way. At the same time, these tracks rock hard as anything I’ve ever done. I really dig it and i’m eager to hear what my fans have to say.”
The album will be released on Livewire/Cargo.
Plans are currently being drawn to support the release with a Latin American tour in October, with European dates to follow in November 2023.
Richie was in the Ramones from February 1983 until August 1987. He was the only drummer to be credited as a composer, writer, and lead vocalist of a Ramones song (six in total) which appear on the Ramones albums Animal Boy, Too Tough to Die and Halfway to Sanity.
Joey Ramone remarked, "Richie saved the band as far as I'm concerned. He was the greatest thing to happen to the Ramones. He put the spirit back in the band."
Richie continues to write and record music, having successfully forayed into the film industry as both an actor and soundtrack composer and his output has been remarkable. He will be releasing his new album, Live To Tell, in early 2023.
His most recent film, Vengeance: Bloodlines Part II, was released in October '22, and is currently free on You Tube. He also dropped a new video, a cover of Cry Little Sister, for the soundtrack to Protége Moi-a film in which he also plays the starring role. Additionally, he will be featured in the upcoming film YouthQuake (both coming in 2023).
Richie made his acting debut in the indie film HEADCHEESE The Movie (released in 2020), while also contributing tracks for the film. Previously, the prolific artist released two singles, Not Afraid (October 2021, Outro Records), along with the single The Last Time (the critically acclaimed tribute to his father who passed away in 2018).
All this followed up the success of his second album Cellophane (August 2017), and a 7” single for the track I Fix This, and his first solo album, Entitled, which featured new songs written by Richie as well as new recordings of the classic songs he wrote for the Ramones.
Richie's song, Somebody Put Something in My Drink, became a Ramones fan favorite and was included on Ramones Mania, one of only two Ramones albums to go gold, as well as Loud, Fast Ramones: Their Toughest Hits, an album comprised of songs hand picked by Johnny Ramone as the Ramones' best works.
In November 2018, Richie released his autobiography, I Know Better Now, on Backbeat Books.

As an original member of the band Hanoi Rocks (1980-85) he recorded 5 albums with the band and toured the world extensively until the tragic events that ended the flight of the pioneering band.Visit product page →
Hanoi Rocks became a major influence on many bands that later became huge like the Guns N'Roses and Pearl Jam. Yaffa's career continued after the break-up of Hanoi and ended up playing with Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, the legendary New York Dolls, the Swedish RnR machine The Hellacopters and many more artists.
Sami began playing with the Hanoi Rocks lead singer Michael Monroe again in 2010, the collaboration with Michael continues to this day.But now it's time to put out an album under his own name. 'The idea for the solo album started to take shape a few years back. I had written music for the New York Dolls and the Michael Monroe Band, but a lot of the songs and ideas were starting to sound more like me than the other bands.' What kind of music does Yaffa then release under his own name? Versatile. 'I've always loved the music of the bands like The Clash and The Rolling Stones. They can play country, funk, reggae and rock`n`roll, and still sound like themselves. I wanted the same kind of versatility for my own album. '
The album has influences on a fairly wide scale, but it hardly surprises those who have followed Yaffa's career: in addition to his own music career, he has been seen getting to know the musical cultures of different parts of the world as a host of the Sami Yaffa: Soundtracker TV series.
'However, the beating heart of the album is in rock`n`roll and punk, I don't shy away from that.' Even though it's a solo album, Yaffa mentions a few of names without whom the album wouldn't have been completed. One being the drummer Janne Haavisto, with whom Sami played already as a teenager. And the other being his Michael Monroe Bands band mate Rich Jones who co-wrote a bulk of the songs with Sami. Also the Stone Sour guitarist Christian Martucci and Smack guitarist Rane played an important role in the creation of the album.
Sami is ready to hit the road after the release of the album with a line up of Janne Haavisto on drums, Linde Lindström (HIM) on guitar and Burton (HIM) on keyboards.
