Batteries is the self-titled debut solo album by Steven Clark (professionally known as Sci-Fi Steven) from Glasgow's Punk/Disco legends bis.

An exercise in short, sharp new-wave snappiness, Steven has ramped up the guitars and latent aggression to create a new sound which has already been compared to Devo playing Queens of The Stone Age or vice-versa.

Nagging melodies abound with some darker twists and a cynical sense of positivity informs the lyrics.

There's plenty of pop hooks for the bis faithful, but Batteries is an angrier beast. Contains anthemic lead track "Batteries" and the viciously wonky pop of "Human Requirements.

All the early, hard-to-find EP's collected - from 1994's debut "Transmissions On The Teen-C Tip!" through to 1996's "Bis vs. The DIY Corps", a crazed journey through Riot Grrrl indebted Synth-Pop to the New-Wave poses of chart-bothering "Kandy Pop" and beyond. Inspired by Devo, Bikini Kill and XTC in equal measures, these are the sounds that inspired a devoted fan base and influenced a generation of bands.

The LP is on 180 grm milky clear vinyl .

Coming shortly on the heels of their 2013 'mini-LP' Healing, Weird Owl are back in 2015 with a full-length LP entitled Interstellar Skeletal, once again being released by a'Recordings, Ltd.

For the first time in their ten-year history, Weird Owl have kept the same lineup for consecutive releases, and Interstellar Skeletal reveals further explorations into the psychic canyons mined on Healing. Rather than scrapping the mission and returning to base for debriefing before attempting a relaunch, Weird Owl's strange sonic rocketry has ventured ever deeper into the vast starry expanse, and their transmissions back to Earth have grown ever freakier as a result.

Their psychedelic postcards are written in the cosmic breathiness of the synthesizer and the alien ululations of a guitar tuned to secret frequencies, rumbling through the ages on illuminated rhythmic grids. Each track on Interstellar Skeletal serves as an interdimensional portal to free zones beyond the usual terrestrial veil, whether it is via odd jungle shamanism ('Silver Ziggurats'), the WWII bomber as spiritual metaphor ('Flying Fortress'), death personified as an albino lycanthrope ('White Werewolf') or the unsettling might of an extraterrestrial deity crashing a beach picnic ('God').

Interstellar Skeletal was recorded and mixed by Jeffrey Berner (Psychic TV, NAAM, Dead Stars) at Galuminum Foil Studio in Brooklyn in the fall of 2014, following Weird Owl's first-ever European tour.

It was the discovery in Australia of a 1932 photograph of Curgenven's grandfather - whose grandfather in turn had emigrated from Cornwall to Australia back in the 1800s - which was the inspiration that brought SIRENE together. Five generations after that first migration across the ocean, Robert Curgenven had been the first of his line to return to the Atlantic peninsula after many years in central and northern Australia.

In Cornwall, living amongst the familiar climes of wild country, he'd returned also to his first instrument, the pipe organ, where his ideas about composition, pursued since his earliest pieces made over three decades before, were consolidated though hours of recordings in centuries-old Cornish churches to become the selection of works etched on SIRÈNE.

In part a companion piece prefacing a visceral forthcoming album (RFE_02) about settler colonialism, SIRÈNE proves just as visceral in its own right. As with the Turner painting, 'Snow Storm - Steam Boat off a Harbour's Mouth', that adorns the back cover and whose story is at the heart of an eponymous track which bodily charts this myth of biography, SIRÈNE sends listeners across roiling oceans billowing humid air, beneath plunging coastlines. Amid this elemental immersion, Curgenven asks what is it to belong to a land, or even to this ever-changing country? Cornwall has been home to thousands of years of tin mining, with a tin trade dating back beyond the Bronze Age and the Phoenicians.

With a colonial history of its own, empires around and within it have come and gone like its rugged granite cliffs, which once stood miles away in the days of Cornubia. Like that coast, the citizenry has remained in a slow process of transformation - waves of imperialism wash over and across Cornwall, as they did on Caliban's horizon in his own Tempest. SIRÈNE is not a kind of nostalgia or looking back nor a looking forward into an imagined future, but instead it views time, lineage, nationhood as a process and a continuum of change.

'Curgenven really excels as he charms easily with a selection of expertly-treated pipe organ recordings. It's not easy listening as you can probably imagine, but hearing the familiar spiritual throb of the organ anchors the recordings in the real world and allows Curgenven to experiment without fear of losing our interest - ¦ his most definitive work to date - ¦ astounding' - John Twells, FACT magazine '

    Fortuna POP!

    Milky Wimpshake 'Encore, Un Effort!'

    £9.99

Milky Wimpshake return with a brand new album of melodic punk indie-pop, splattered with Pete Dale's wry lyrics and simple, direct guitar riffs.

The album features several duets with Sophie Evans, who sings on over half the songs, adding both a sweetness and a sassyness to their sound. These duets show different sides to relationships from shyness to bickering and from lust to indifference. The album also sees a return to 'political' (as opposed to purely romantic) concerns on songs like Le Revolution Politique' - Pete's first ever song written in French, calling for political revolution, Coming Soon' - a hymn to the messianic arrival of anarcho-socialist revolution, proposing that there can be no war but the class war, and the cover of Onsind (featuring members of Martha)'s Heterosexuality is a Construct'.

    As Pete explains:
'The song is pretty unambiguous: love is not a crime and homophobia should never be tolerated. Ever.' The album title Encore, Un Effort! is an old Marxist slogan popular in France and used by, for example, Situationist René Viénet in his 1977 film Chinois, Encore Un Effort Pour Etre Révolutionnaires (One More Effort, Chinese, If You Want to be Revolutionaries). To some extent, though, the encore'is Milky Wimpshake's: who would have thought they would still be going some twenty odd years since the first tape and 7' singles?

This LP is an added extra for the die-hards who've stuck with the band - or, continuing with our french, a port manteaux for those who have never come across the band before. Milky Wimpshake were formed by Pete in 1993 with Christine Rowe joining the band on bass in early 1994. A number of drummers have appeared over the course of half a dozen LPs, but the latest drummer Mike Walsh will hopefully be a permanent addition.

The newest member of the band, Sophie Evans, wasn't even born when the band played their first gig but she is not the only one who has grown up coming to Milky Wimpshake shows: the band has a small but enthusiastic cult following.

The band have now been recording for Fortuna POP! for 15 years and they love the label more and more as the years pass: Pete recently declared that 'Fortuna POP! is the best label in the UK, bar none!' and went on to say; 'it is obvious that the likes of Spook School, Martha and Joanna Gruesome are amazing, thus it is an honour for the band to stay on Fortuna POP!' To which we say, nous vous aimons trop Milky Wimpshake!

Death and Vanilla 'To Where the Wild Things Are'

    £11.99

2 vinyl editions, one blue one orange both on 160 gm vinyl, both include downloads.

Whether their muse lies in 60s sci-fi soundtracks, The Radiophonic Workshop, the prototype electronic sounds of The United States Of America, the retro-futuristic edge of Broadcast, the dream pop ambience of Angelo Badalamenti/Julie Cruise, or the shimmering shroud of Mazzy Star, will doubtless be raised in countless interviews.

But what matters more is that Death And Vanilla have woven a stunning tapestry that envelops all that preceded them, into a literally head-turning album, of kaleidoscopic proportions... Formed in Malmö, Sweden by Marleen Nilsson and Anders Hansson, Death and Vanilla utilise vintage musical equipment such as vibraphone, organ, mellotron, tremolo guitar and moog, to emulate the sounds of 60s/70s soundtracks, library music, German Krautrock, French Ye-ye pop and 60s psych.

They revel in the warmth of older analogue instruments to create a more organic sound, each loose wire and off-kilter noise adding to the rich atmosphere. After a handful of successful releases including a debut EP in 2010, their self-titled LP in 2012 – which sold out on pre-order – and a beautifully designed 7” single, the experimental pop duo were invited to compose a live soundtrack for the classic horror film, Vampyr (1932), for the Lund Fantastisk Film festival in Lund. Now, newly signed to Fire, the band return with ‘To Where The Wild Things Are.’

Named after the Maurice Sendak children’s book, the album is comprised of pop music with a wild, dreamy and experimental edge, celebrating imagination and the ability to travel to stranger recesses of the mind. ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ starts off with some of the most “pop” songs they’ve ever recorded, typified in the sweet and melodramatic “Arcana”, and the classic pop inspired “Time Travel”. Like Sendak’s book of the same name, the album then proceeds into stranger and stranger territory, resulting in some of the most experimental material Death and Vanilla have produced, such as the six minute “Something Unknown You Need to Know” and the machine-like, surf-guitar track “The Hidden Reverse”.

The band recorded the new album themselves in their rehearsal space, using just one microphone – a 70’s Sennheiser – which they bought at a flea market for a tenner. It is this unconventional recording process that gives Death and Vanilla their unique personality; using a trial and error approach to recording has rewarded the album with a strangeness that would not have otherwise been achievable.

Creating deliciously enticing soundscapes, full of moody moogs, swirling melodies and breathless vocals, their influences on ‘To Where the Wild Things Are’ are apparent and diverse, ranging from Ennio Morricone to Scott Walker, Tom Dissevelt to Norman Whitfield, The Zombies to Sun Ra, and Bo Hansson to The BBC Radiophonic workshop.

“Death and Vanilla’s sound is like an elaborate dreamscape composed of foggy visions and mind-altering notions.” Redefine Magazine

“Death And Vanilla are a Swedish haunted-pop duo who have found themselves caught in the vortex of retro-futurism circa 1969… they've got a good grip on the baroque psychedelia of the United States Of America and Free Design,” Aquarius Records

ORKA is a Faroese act based in London. When ORKA started they began with building their own instruments out of agricultural tools on a small farm on the Faroe Islands.

ORKA has since then played venues and festivals all over the world and done collaborations with a number of prominent acts including LV (Hyperdub, Keysound), Yann Tiersen, and Ãlafur Björn Ãlafsson (Sigur RÃ"s). Now ORKA is ready with their 4th full-length album LEIPZIG.

The bulk of the album was recorded at UT Connewitz; a spectacular and worn down pre-war cinema in the heart of Leipzig, Germany, together with Oktopus (Dälek), Ãlavur Jákupsson, and HOGNI.

Other recordings were done on tour in Paris, New York, a small church in Sibrandahûs, Netherlands, a boat in Hong Kong and a train terminal in Bombay. The album was then finalised and patched together in ORKA's and co-producers LV's London studios, and it features vocals by Greta Svabo Bech (Deadmau5) and Teitur among others.

On LEIPZIG ORKA's trademark custom instruments and dark sound are fused with sedated resounds from UK Bass and LA Beat topped with icy North Atlantic vocals. ORKA call it Club Gaze.

If compared to other artists, you could say that the album sounds like J Dilla's Donuts if it was produced by Burial, with the Nordic melodic sensibility of Sigur RÃ"s, and performed by Faust."

The fabulous 'Sleeping in the Backseat' is the first single to be taken from Tigercats'second album Mysteries, released in February on Fortuna POP! Taking lead vocals is keyboardist Laura Kovic, but it was written by frontman Duncan Barrett who said, 'I've always wanted to write a good driving song, but I don't have a licence so this is probably the closest I'll get.'

The track encapsulates the album's sonically expansive sound, blending the very best of indiepop with complex song structures, lush production and beautiful arrangements. It was premiered by Gold Flake Paint who wrote that "Sleeping In The Backseat' 'is as invigorating and poignant as we might have hoped for."

Tigercats combine the talents of songwriter, singer and guitarist Duncan Barrett with his brother Giles on bass, Laura Kovic on keyboards and vocals, and Jonny Evans on drums, as well as recent recruit Paul Rains from Allo Darlin'on guitar. And on Mysteries they're joined by living legend Terry Edwards (Gallon Drunk / Tindersticks), who contributes saxophone and trumpet on several tracks.

A sophisticated pop record, effervescent and spirited, with care and love poured into every song, Mysteries is the sound of a band of outstanding musicians fulfilling their potential and using their talents in the studio to realise their musical vision, retaining their infectious hooks, their heart and their sheer danceability, and coupling it with a bright new contemporary sound. Superbly crafted and full of personality, Tigercats'second album suggests that they won't remain a mystery much longer.

"Purveyors of a kind of melancholic yet celebratory pop music that deserves to reach a wider audience" (Independent On Sunday, 4 stars)

Due to rising international pressure, Joanna Gruesome's new album Peanut Butter will finally enter the world via Fortuna POP! (UK/Japan), Slumberland (US) and Turnstile (RoW). Rival groups will be disappointed to learn that the record is a further experiment in combining hyper-melodic pop music with sonic violence. Officials have confirmed that the album contains a record number of hooks, traces of nut and elements of jangle pop, British hardcore punk, atonal music, screaming and drone organs. Yet they have issued warnings of "a marriage of radical politics with peanut butter spread". One authorised statement reads: 'Weighing in at a concise 25 minutes, the album hurtles through its ten songs, each one a succinct, powerful gem.'

Like their debut, the new album was recorded by MJ from Hookworms, with the aim of heightening the group's "pop" and "aggressive" elements to excessive and hitherto unrecorded levels.

    As songwriter Owen Williams explains:
'We tried to make it shorter, more economical and attempted to pack as many hooks and screams in as quickly possible in order to avoid short changing the consumer or wasting her/his/their time. Lyrically it's more obtuse and surreal but also attempts to mock trad masculine rock themes whenever things do get more lucid. But sometimes musically we embrace them by doing embarrassing guitar solos. I'm not sure how much else I'm at liberty to say but one thing I will disclose is that the record is a response to threats posed by rival groups."

The record has also seen the group explore new and potentially dangerous lyrical territory. Opener Last Year is reportedly about experiencing personal tragedy and the occult in a waterpark and a pizza restaurant. Yet Jamie (Luvver) is a straightforward pop song about having a crush on someone named Jamie, queer literature and Welsh public transport. These tracks are followed by the incredibly catchy Honestly Do Yr Worst, a song about espionage, rival groups and the radical possibilities of peanut butter spread.

Things become surreal on There Is No Function Stacy, a song about
'someone called Stacy who wrongly believes a party is happening that she's been invited to. The narrator has to painfully explain to her that there was never a party and she fabricated it all', while on Crayon Williams addresses his approach to lyrics directly. 'Sometimes you can undermine hetero macho rock shit through nonsense words, obtuse statements, action, melody, sound or aesthetic rather than through traditional lyrics.'

Speaking confidentially, one official confirms that 'The sixth track, I Don't Wanna Relax, is yet another hook-filled potential single. This is swiftly followed by Jerome (Liar), a fan favourite based on a subversive folk tale.' On Separate Bedrooms, the group cover a song by Bristol DIY act Black Terror (now performing as 'CUP WINNERS' CUP'), a group known for their attention to melody. The penultimate track is the 'crushing, sparkling' Psykick Espionage, a song about telepathy and the occult in rock'n'roll, and 'the first time I ate an avocado'.

The record is brought to a close by Hey! I Wanna Be Your Best Friend, a heartwarming number about radical friendship and Thin Lizzy appreciation. Under media interrogation, guitarist George Nicholls confesses to the themes of the record:
'It's about radical politics, fancying people and espionage. The first record was more about violence and revenge fantasy, whereas this one is more about peanut butter."

Comprised of Alanna McArdle (vocals), Owen Williams (guitar), Max Warren (bass), George Nicholls (guitar & organ) and David Sandford (drums), the band members originally met on a wine tasting holiday. Their debut album Weird Sister took the world by storm when it was released in September 2013, and went on to win the 2014 Welsh Music Prize. Overwhelming press support saw glowing, hysterical reviews across the board with particular interest from media outlets 'Pitchfork' and 'the NME'.

On the radio their singles have scored a remarkable four out of four on the 'BBC 6 Music playlist' and the band have played sessions for both 'Lauren Laverne' on '6 Music' and for 'Huw Stephens' on 'BBC Radio One'. Since the release of Weird Sister the band have been constantly hounded, surfacing from hiding only to release split singles with Bristol's Trust Fund and New York's Perfect Pussy, as well as touring with Los Campesinos!, Speedy Ortiz and Stephen Malkmus.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor 'Asunder, Sweet And Other Distress'

    £11.99

Godspeed You! Black Emperor (GYBE) returns with its first single LP-length release since the group's earliest days in 1997-99. Asunder, Sweet And Other Distress'clocks in at a succinct 40 minutes and is arguably the most focused and best sounding recording of the band's career.

'If Godspeed around the turn of the millennium felt like a band of the moment, now, in a time of rapid cultural turnover and bite-sized music consumption, they feel out of step in a very necessary way.' - PITCHFORK

'This Montreal collective still sound like nothing else - ¦The Godspeed ethos of wordlessly eliciting universal truths remains as devastatingly effective as ever.' - THE GUARDIAN

Working with sound engineer Greg Norman (Electrical Audio) at studios in North Carolina and Montréal, GYBE slowly and steadily put the new album together through late 2013 and 2014, emerging with a mighty slab of superlative sonics, shot through with all the band's inimitable signposts and touchstones: huge unison riffage, savage noise/drone, oscillating overtones, guitar vs. string counterpoint, inexorable crescendos and scorchedearth transitions.

Following Godspeed's return from a long hiatus at the end of 2010 to begin playing live shows again, and with the hugely acclaimed Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! release in 2012 marking their first new release in a decade, the group continued to perform regularly on their own headlining tours (and as headliners at many leading festivals), often including a new multi-movement piece in concert over the past couple of years.

Known to fans and through live show recordings by the sobriquet 'Behemoth', GYBE has gradually distilled this new work down to a fastidious and uncompromising essence in the studio, with the swing-time swagger of the opening unison riff in 'Peasantry or Light! Inside of Light!'' giving way to increasing microtonal divergences and an exhilarating immersion in the harmonic power of massed amplified instruments, before collapsing into some of the most visceral and unalloyed noise/drone the band has yet committed to tape on 'Lambs'Breath' and 'Asunder, Sweet'.

The album closes with 'Piss Crowns Are Trebled', a 14-minute piece of vintage Godspeed, where ascending and descending guitar and violin melodies intertwine over gut-rattling distorted bass in 3/4 time, segueing into a pummeling four-on-the-floor series of sparkling, soaring crescendos.

Asunder, Sweet And Other Distress'finds Godspeed in top form; a sterling celebration of the band's awesome dialectic, where composition, emotion and note-choice'is inextricable from an exacting focus on tone, timbre, resonance and the sheer materiality of sound.

Right from their inception in 1976, back in the first stirrings of punk, Wire went about making music in a subversive, conceptual way, setting themselves apart from both their peers and their influences.
'I had this idea that I wanted to avoid things that had a particular kind of tradition,' explains singer and guitarist Colin Newman. 'I thought the three-chord trick was too simplistic and that the one-chord trick would be better. Or the two chord trick where the second chord is definitely not the right chord.'
Bass guitarist and vocalist Graham Lewis identifies another trait that has run throughout the group's lifetime. ' People said, we were mysterious, arch and dark. But the only way of doing that successfully, is by also having a sense of humour. You have to have that balance. With Wire there's a peculiarity, a contrariness and that can be funny."

This questing approach has served them well in guarding against repetition and cliché. In context, Wire's last album, 2013's aptly titled Change Becomes Us was another case of 'Expect the unexpected' as it found them extensively reworking a rich cache of material abandoned amid a temporary
    break-up in the early 80s.

Their 13th studio album - simply titled Wire - comprises material that was written with the album in mind, but toured extensively first, as well as songs that Newman introduced to the group in the studio just prior to recording. The idea was to get the most spontaneous reaction possible from the musicians, and far from the rough and ready results one might expect from such a tack, Wire is full of swooning pop melodies with a 60s tinge and an irresistible, near motorik rhythmic momentum. One can recognise certain melodic inflections, guitar and bass motifs, and drum rhythms from Wire's idiosyncratic vocabulary but it has a remarkable freshness. The basic tracks were recorded at Rockfield Studios with overdubs added at Brighton Electric. The 11 tracks selected for release were the ones that came together most naturally.

From the outset Wire was an alliance between four very different characters and continues today with the addition, in 2012, of It Hugs Back guitarist Matthew Simms, who is around thirty years younger than the other group members. 'With Matt there was a really new dynamic that had appeared in the group's sound and that was something we wanted to capture, utilise and be creative with,' says Lewis.
Wire is the first album where Simms has been involved in formulating the material from the ground up, but when the group's particular chemistry starts working he is now very much part of the process.

Lewis provides most of the lyrics for the album, their subject matter encompassing love songs, cryptic narratives and coded messages. One time, Newman asked Lewis to send over some unfinished, unformatted text so he wouldn't be bound by what to use for the chorus. This material spawned two songs written on the same day, Split Your Ends'and the droll In Manchester'. The latter has the disorientating and rather absurd situation of having 'In Manchester' as a soaring chorus, when the song is not about Manchester beyond a single line in the lyric.

As the album progresses, some of the sunlit pop tunes become more shadowy and it ultimately plunges into the musical black hole of Harpooned', eight churning minutes of the group's darkest, most abrasive music to date, and a favourite in live performances since 2013.

'The point where our personal narratives meet is all about change - moving on and keeping it interesting for ourselves,' says Newman. 'We're in it for the long haul and this is a one-way trip.'

Live dates outside the UK will be announced soon.

As the popularity of Footwork has continued to soar, the range of sounds within the genre has expanded. From the angular, minimal beats of RP Boo to the widely admired sound of sadly departed DJ Rashad, the genre has lovingly seeped into hearts and feet worldwide whilst continuing to innovate. Until now most of the focus has been on the male DJ/Producers, but that is about to change.

Gary based producer Jlin, who some of you might remember for her track 'Erotic Heat' (Bangs and Works Vol.2 - Planet Mu 2011), or from her moment in the mainstream light providing music for fashion designer Rick Owens'FW/14 Paris runway show, is stepping further into the light with a stunning eleven track debut album 'Dark Energy' showcasing her unique and bold new sound.

Gary, Indiana, a neighbouring City to Chicago, is one of those towns people overlook or perhaps expect the worst of. It's famous for the Jackson 5 and its Steel Mills, one of which Jlin works long shifts at. She says her sound and 'the themes behind my tracks are all based off what my creativity absorbs, whether it be bad or good', and the music certainly shows that intent. It's forceful, yet ripples with colour; it's an intense, monolithic sound with rugged rhythms that stop and breathe and roll out in unusual staccato patterns. It's a sound unlike any other out there, one that's fiercely unique. Her track titles are as evocative as the music is intense and hint at deeper themes - 'Black Diamond', 'Guantanamo', 'Abnormal Restriction'.

She notes 'The titles I chose are based off failing and learning.' Album track 'Expand' also features a vocal from another important female artist - respected experimental West Coast producer Holly Herndon whom Jlin has been quietly collaborating with. Her album 'Dark Energy' is so called because of where it came from and how it came to be; the dark monolith on the cover also perfectly encapsulates it - 'This album took my entire life to make.

Every moment in my life lead up to this album. My musical sense of expression comes from sadness, and anger. I can't create from a happy place. It seems pointless in my opinion. I don't make the tracks as much as I feel them. Creating for me is about feeling and impact.'Jlin has been supported by all the key players in the Footwork scene and says she is 'thankful to many.'

2015 feels like the year people are ready for a new voice in Footwork and Jlin is a true original with a hard, yet infectious style and an album that showcases it brilliantly.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre 'Musique de Film Imaginé'

    £7.99

Musique de film imaginé (music for film imagined) is a soundtrack that pays homage to the great European film directors of the late 50's and 60's, such as Francois Truffaut & Jean-Luc Godard (to name but two), created by Anton Newcombe on behalf of the Brian Jonestown Massacre for an imaginary French film.

Guests on this daring symphonic experience are French chanteuse and multi-instrumentalist SoKo and Italian actress, singer and director Asia Argento. SoKo is signed to Because Music and her track We Might Be Dead by Tomorrow'was featured in the viral video First Kiss', which has garnered over 63 million views and debuted at number 9 in the Billboard Hot 100 last year. Asia Argento, who has starred in music videos for Marilyn Manson, Placebo and Tim Burgess, recently wrote the storyline for ASAP Rocky's music video and short film Phoenix', which has had over 5.5 million hits. Both vocal performances are in French.

Anton Newcombe recorded Musique de film imaginé in Berlin in August 2014, after a successful European tour for the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

    Anton says:

'The album that you are about to hear is a soundtrack, my own creation, a tribute to great directors and filmmakers to an era that now seems to be behind us. Leaving the smart person to care to imagine that this art could now be in the shadow of its former glory. 'The interesting thing about this project is that the film does not exist either. Even so, I imagined and I realized its soundtrack... Now it's your turn, you are the listener to imagine the film.'

Brian Jonestown Massacre returned last May with their 14th full-length album Revelation'to critical acclaim. It is the first album

that was fully recorded and produced at Anton Newcombe's recording studio in Berlin and was released on his record label a recordings. Named in tribute to the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and his influence in introducing Eastern culture and music into the world of Western rock & roll, Brian Jonestown Massacre formed in San Francisco, California in 1990. Two dozen band members later and numerous 'ups and downs' (some have been famously sensationalized in the media), the one thing that has always remained consistent for this psychedelic collective, is front man Mr. Anton Alfred Newcombe.

The Lovely Eggs return with their third album 'WILDLIFE' after a year and a half touring their critically acclaimed second album 'COB DOMINOS'. This time the Eggs return with an album that encapsulates the isolation of extensive touring and brief time back in their home town Lancaster.

The two piece raucous noise pop duo combine their gritty British northern surreal lyrics with thunderous guitars and crashing drums on this their third self-recorded gem. Working alongside Gruff Rhys who produced Allergies and Cornershop's Tjinder Singh who has remixed Food for a special digital download, Wildlife is yet another wonderful and unique album from a band who continue to cement their reputation as one of the most genuinely exciting and essential bands around today.

Already lead track Allergies, the first single taken from Wildlife, released on the Too Pure Singles Club, has won the BBC 6 Music Rebel Playlist - with 82% of the public vote and declared winner of Steve Lamacq's 6 Music Round Table as well as Artrocker's single of the month. For The Lovely Eggs being in a band is a way of life. True to this, they live the way they play. Fiercely, constantly in search of the good times. Touring extensively throughout the UK, Europe and the USA, The Lovely Eggs have become underground festival favourites performing at SXSW, Bestival, Green Man plus many more with their off the wall anthems 'Fuck It' and 'Don't look at me I don't like it'.

With much support from 6 Music and Radio One's Huw Stephen's (who tipped them as wild cards in FHM's 2012 one's to watch) Holly (guitar/vocs) and David (drums/vocs) have worked with comedian Graham Fellows (aka John Shuttleworth) as well as Jad Fair from the seminal Texas band Half Japanese. Their songs appear in Canadian film Molly Maxwell to be released early 2013 and have been sampled by Zane Lowe for Scroobius Pip.

The pair also feature on a Radio 4 Richard Brautigan documentary this autumn, presented and in discussion with Jarvis Cocker contemplating the influence of the American surreal author on their music. With this their third album in three years The Lovely Eggs explore further into their own world and the bizarreness of reality and invite you to come inside to join the party, strange as it is!

    Evans The Death 'Enabler'

Limited Edition 7" (Reverend Black Grape coloured vinyl)
Enabler is the first single to be taken from Evans the Death's new album Expect Delays, out 2nd March.

Recorded again with producer Rory Atwell (Test Icicles, Warm Brains), the new long-player bristles with underlying tension and veers from rip-roaring noise to quiet contemplation, underpinned by Katherine Whitaker's extraordinary voice. Enabler opens with a sonic onslaught of fuzz and feedback before the rhythm section explodes into life and the song kicks in, Whitaker's distinctive vocals doubled up like sinister twins prowling around a gorgeously discordant melody.

Still barely out of their teens, there's a tremendous sense across Expect Delays of a band coming into their own, honing a plethora of influences to make a sound that is uniquely them. Each song on the album has a different feel to it: some of them are melodic and pretty; some of them heavy and dissonant; and some of them are, to quote guitarist Dan Moss, 'a bit strange'. While retaining the post-punk and 90s alt-rock inspired elements that peppered their debut, the music is more expressive, heavier and more experimental, and the lyrics more nuanced, the sense of despair leavened by sharp wordplay and humour.

The unsettling undercurrent of melancholy and hopelessness that pervades the record has its roots in the last three years, spent eking out an existence on the poverty line in Cameron's Britain, leaving them with a succession of minimum-wage jobs and unemployment benefits interviews. As guitarist Dan Moss relates, the album is about 'being in London and feeling hopeless and a bit lost. Not having any money, relationships falling apart, things just not connecting or going anywhere and getting absolutely wasted all the time.'

Named after the undertaker in Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood, the band's 2012 self-titled inaugural album saw critical acclaim from the likes of Q, Uncut and Artrocker, as well as radio play on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music and XFM. Following the departure of bassist Alanna McArdle to Joanna Gruesome, the band regrouped around the core of brothers Dan and Olly Moss and singer Katherine Whitaker for the recording of Expect Delays. Drummer James Burkitt was recruited from Leeds'band The ABC Club to complete a lean and taut new four-piece.

'Evans the Death manage to make humdrum everyday existence seem quite magical' Q ****

    Short biography:
Taking in archive material from a variety of sources the new album sees the corduroy-clad J. Willgoose, Esq. and his faithful drumming companion, Wrigglesworth, continue their mission statement to Inform, Educate & Entertain. Through both the record and their uniquely spell-binding live audio-visual Transmissions', audiences witness the band weave samples from these films around live drums, guitar, banjo and electronics, creating an array of diverse tracks. What emerges is, by turns, thrilling, moving, funny and powerful. The Independent's Simon Price said of the band : 'In their love of history, and their understanding of the dignity of the wartime generation, they remind me of British Sea Power, although Stereolab are closer sonically. PSB are progressive without the florid ornamentation of Prog, dense and complex with not a semiquaver wasted. It's an industrious, diligent sound, and, in the flesh, surprisingly danceable: slamming chemical beats accompanied by old cine footage, providing a peculiar opportunity to party to Pathe news'
