    Fu Manchu 'A Look Back - Dogtown & Z-Boys'

    £9.99

A Look Back - DogTown & Z-Boys is the first short documentary by legendary artist/photographer Glen E. Friedman.

The film looks back on an essential period in the history of skateboarding, but more directly on how the original award winning documentary affected the original surviving members of that influential team (Tony Alva, Stacy Peralta, Peggy Oki, Wentzle Ruml and others) and what they thought about the original film itself, 20 years after its release.

Fu Manchu provided the entire soundtrack for the film with the songs personally curated by Glen E. Friedman. This official soundtrack recording release features all 9 tracks featured in the film in the order that they appear.

The music spans the band’s entire career from “Free And Easy (Summer Girls)” from the band’s 1994 debut album, No One Rides For Free, to “Il Mostro Atomico” featuring Alex Lifeson of Rush, from their most recent full length album, Clone Of The Universe.

This is the only release from the band that features two instrumentals: “Out To Sea” from 2004’s Start The Machine and “Hanglider,” which was originally released on the Japanese version of 2000’s King Of The Road.

This limited edition double LP run is pressed on one purple and one green vinyl and features an etching from legendary skater, Lance Mountain. The gatefold jacket features rare photos from Glen E. Friedman including an incredible shot of the late Jay Adams across the inside. All tracks were remastered specifically for this vinyl release.

The limited edition 1,000 unit CD run also features the same photos and a digital specific remaster.

Southern Californian hard-rock legends FU MANCHU have announced plans to release their 12th studio album, Clone of the Universe, on February 9th, The upcoming record will be their first in 4 years, following the 2014 release of Gigantoid. In addition to the album news, FU MANCHU has also announced a world tour in support of the record.

Clone Of The Universe marks a new chapter for the 'fuzz rock' pioneers as they mix the straight ahead blistering rock with the unexpected time shifts, featuring tracks like the roaring cuts 'Don't Panic' and '(I've Been) Hexed' and the dynamically complex 'Clone of the Universe' and 'Slower Than Light.' The centerpiece of the album is 'IL Mostro Atomico,' an 18 minute 8 second, side long epic featuring a special guest performance by Alex Lifeson, guitarist and songwriter of the legendary band RUSH.

Heavier than anything they've ever done and broken into 4 distinct sections, it's new ground for a band that's been pushing the boundaries of 'fuzz and wah' since its formation in 1990.The band will be playing 2 album release shows in Southern California before hitting the road in Europe in March of 2018 and returning to the US in May of 2018. Additional 2018 shows will be announced in the coming months.

'We are excited to get out and play this stuff, especially 'Il Mostro Atomico,' says founding guitarist, Scott Hill. 'We think it's some the strongest music we've ever done. We really love the overall sound of the album and having Alex (Lifeson) play on it is just incredible. It gives it that special validation for the idea that we had to try something like a side long song.'

The album was recorded and produced by FU MANCHU and Jim Monroe at The Racket Room in Santa Ana, CA with additional recording by Andrew Giacumakis at SUSSTUDIO in Simi Valley CA and will be released worldwide for streaming and on vinyl and CD on the band's own AT THE DOJO RECORDS.

FU MANCHU is Scott Hill (vocals, guitar) Bob Balch (Guitars), Brad Davis (Bass) and Scott Reeder (Drums and Percussion).

A transcendent distillation of Seventies rock heaviness and Eighties punk aggression...what Black Sabbath would sound like with suntans and a fleet of dune buggies at their disposal - ¦the ultimate desert-rock " - ROLLING STONE.

Originally formed in 1985 as a Black Flag-influenced hardcore punk band called Virulence, FU MANCHU has since become one of hard rock's most celebrated names. The band released its first single 'Kept Between Trees' in 1990 and in the years following, helped give rise to a celebrated style of heavy music tagged 'stoner rock' alongside peers such as Kyuss, Monster Magnet and Sleep.

Since its inception, the quartet has built itself a fanatical army of loyal enthusiasts all drawn to the group's ridiculously catchy, unpretentious music, guitar-driven sound and carefree lyrics centered on 'old muscle cars, choppers, vans, skateboarding and science fiction' 'Daredevil' was originally released on the now defunct Bongload label, followed up by a re-issue on Cargo's own Sweet Nothing Records and now gets a digitally remastered re-issue on the bands own label At The Dojo.

    Fu Manchu 'Godzilla"s/Eatin" Dust +4'

    £9.99

Godzilla's/Eatin'Dust is the most popular release in Fu Manchu's 29 year recorded history. It is the combination of what were originally 2 distinct 10' releases: Godzilla (1997) and Eatin'Dust (1999).

Last year, Scott Hill (vocals/guitar) found the original tapes from the Godzilla recording sessions produced by Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age/Kyuss) and unearthed a secret that had been in his garage since 1996...The band had recorded 4 songs that had never been released.

These extra songs are early versions of "Grendel, Snowman," "Strolling Astronomer" and "Urethane' (whose final versions appeared on 1997's The Action Is Go) and a cover of Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak" (which is a different version than the one which was released on 7' in 1998).

The songs line up perfectly with the original tracklist, which includes the band's crowd pleasing cover of Blue Oyster Cult's 'Godzilla' and fan favorites 'Eatin'Dust' and 'Mongoose' (which was featured in a Super Bowl commercial for Toyota and included in the TV series 'Sons Of Anarchy' and the films 'Boondock Saints II' and 'The Hot Chick').

RE-ISSUE OF CLASSIC FU! NOW ON TRANSPARENT GREEN VINYL!

After a bit of a break from albums, not counting the Return to Earth singles compilation, Fu Manchu fully fired up and took off again with King of the Road, an album that doesn't so much follow on from The Action Is Go as flat out continue it.

Hill has a touch more bite to his vocals this time around, but otherwise there's little to differentiate the two records -- and that's very much meant as a compliment. With plenty of touring and other things under their belts, the lineup has fully jelled and sounds it, Bjork's bad-ass drumming (and occasional cowbells, of course) and Balch's insane lead guitar crunch possibly even better than ever.

Together it's all one megariff and nasty, slamming rhythm after another, and face it, anyone expecting anything else from Fu Manchu really needs to find another band. Joe Barresi co-produces with the band, and while there's no extra keyboard/organ weirdness this time around, it hardly matters.

In as much as there's a theme to King of the Road beyond the basics of driving, drugs, and that demon rock & roll, it's driving -- there's a reason why the cover and internal art features a slew of great '70s-era photos from a massive van rally.

The one shot of the fully leather-covered interior of one mobile love nest, complete with black curtains, about says it all. Then there's the megachugging title track ("King of the road says you move too slow!"), "Hell on Wheels," "Boogie Van," and so forth -- call it a concept album that doesn't waste time with elves and yogis.

As with the last album, a punk/new wave nugget gets the cover treatment here -- none other than Devo's "Freedom of Choice." Needless to say, now it sounds just like a Fu Manchu original.

One of the songs that's on this live record, 'I Wanna Be,' is a different arrangement than what ended up on the final studio release. We're stoked that the show was recorded and that people will get to hear it.

The third release in Fu Manchu's 30th Anniversary vinyl reissue series, Return To Earth 91-93 Deluxe Edition, is the first ever update to this legendary compilation of the band's earliest singles.

These songs are the only ones recorded with the band's original lead guitarist, Scott Votaw, as well as the only ones recorded as a three piece of the original core line-up of Scott Hill (vocals/guitar), Mark Abshire (bass) and Ruben Romano (drums).

Return To Earth 91-93 Deluxe Edition features the 9 songs from the original release including the first version of fan favorite, 'Ojo Rojo,' plus 2 newly discovered tracks that have never been heard before: 'Ford-Natic' and an early version of 'Shine It On,' which was later re-recorded for their debut album.

All songs were remixed by Scott Hill along with the band's current producing partner, Jim Monroe (Adolescents, Channel 3, Ignite) and remastered by Carl Saff for optimum fidelity.

This limited edition 2,000 unit LP run is pressed on neon purple vinyl and the newly designed gatefold package includes never before seen photos of the band and flyers from their early shows.

The limited edition 1,000 unit CD run also features the updated art and a digital specific remaster.
