Yet it’s also a record which has arrived through a strange process of osmosis from a band confident enough to let subconscious and metaphysical aspects steer them in the appropriate directions.
“We embraced the incidents, letting the songs guide us to their final form rather than trying to force them in a precise direction” confirms the band’s Luca Giovanardi. For all its divings, this is a collection of supremely confident and cohesive ditties that sees the deep-end diabolism and mantric intensity of the Italian-based band’s Rocket debut, 2017’s ‘Invocation And Ritual Dance Of My Demon Twin’ expanded into a righteous fury and incandescent splendour.
Whether it’s the heavy-lidded rapture of ‘Lord Help Me Find The Way’ (like Spiritualized transposed to 1970s Berlin), the menacing dream-state of ‘In Return’ or the Suicide-damaged psychic assault that is ‘Sorcerer’, all is subsumed by a bold singularity of intent, amidst a colourful firestorm of electronic monomania, jazz-tinged atonality and indelibly memorable vocal hooks.
“There’s a theme springing from the title of the record and the (cover) photos of Annegret Soltau that deliver some sense of helplessness, suffocation, difficulty in communication” notes the band’s Luca Giovanardi.
Yet for all this - and paradoxically enough - ‘In The Silence Electric’ is both this mysterious and rebellious band’s most adventurous and most direct record to date - not to mention an ever more compelling transmission from renowned experts in altered states.

Much anticipated and final studio album by Future Pilot AKA, the brainchild of Indo-Caledonian bassist/bandleader Sushil K Dade. 9 years in the making this album was not originally intended to be released via the conventional format of an album release.Visit product page →
Initially the individual recordings were hidden in the elements by the artist (shorelines/ hills/wind farms/ islands and lochs) as part of a #soniktreasurehunt sound/research project across Scotland. After all the hidden tracks were discovered by music fans via clues/co-ordinates shared on social media by the artist, Dade decided to 'curate' a one-off edition of these recordings in the format of a picnic hamper as a conclusion to the #soniktreasurehunt.
This was discovered at a bus-stop near Faslane Nuclear base. After several years since the discovery of the 'one-off edition' Glass Modern are thrilled to bring together these tracks and finally present these in the classic format of 'the album'.
Future Pilot AKA music is highly collaborative and Dade's previous recordings have featured contributions from a range of artists including Philip Glass, Damo Suzuki, Mikey Dread, The Pastels, The Go-Betweens.
Featured on Orkestra Digitalis are contributions from Soft Machine legend Robert Wyatt (he posted Dade a cassette of his vocals lines), Ethiopian jazz master Mulatu Astatke (making his vocal debut on a tribute to Charles Mingus), Brian Eno collaborator Leo Abrahams, Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith, Scottish artists Emma Pollock (Delgados), R M Hubbert, Craig Armstrong and Turner Prize Award Winning Artist Martin Boyce who meditates on a quote from an Orange Juice classic.
The first singles Tutti Shruti'(ft Robert Wyatt) and 'The Art Of Good Breathing' (ft Emma Pollock/Ron Sexsmith) have received support from radio DJ's including Gideon Coe, Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Mary Anne Hobbs, Vic Galloway & Shaun Keavney.

Landscapes is the latest release from prolific Yorkshire born composer and producer Kirk Barley (Bambooman). Across a tight 34-minute runtime, the album presents eleven short pieces that inhabit an exotic, other-worldly space of chiming guitars, buzzing insects and squelching synth tones. Working with looped fragments of his own instrumental, electronic and field-recorded sounds, Barley assembled the tracks from edited improvisations, some of them enriched with live drums from Matt Davies.Visit product page →
Barley's skittering, off-kilter loops overlap freely, combining with meterless, free-jazz-inspired drumming and processed environmental field recordings to craft gently surging sonic environments. At once static and constantly shifting, the pieces unfold themselves like views of a landscape, where we take in individual details one at a time while always remaining aware of the whole.
Deeply influenced by the fourth world'philosophies of trumpeter Jon Hassell, champion of a music bridging global traditions and contemporary technologies, Landscapes integrates electro-acoustic techniques with suggestions of a variety of non-western musical forms, from the pitched percussion effects of Water Wheel'(calling to mind the incredible bamboo tube percussion of Solomon Islands music) to the stately gamelan-esque procession of clanging metallic tones and deep, filtered synth chords that underlies the pop and crackle of fireworks on Ark'.
Several pieces make use of a drifting pentatonic harmony that brings them close to the work of Japanese ambient pioneer Hiroshi Yoshimura, though Barley's productions are so rich in detail and surprise that they demand active listening.
At other times, a distinctly English sensibility makes itself felt in the pastoral expanses of gently spaced chords and chiming guitar harmonics, calling up the delicate miniatures of Simon Fisher Turner and Colin Lloyd Tucker's cult Deux Filles project. Landscapes is an unassuming but powerful work that uses a rich array of details, materials and techniques to conjure 11 snapshots of a unique sound world, one both comforting and disorienting.
Recommended for anyone moved by the evocative sketches of Eno's Music for Films, the fourth world fusion of Jon Hassell, the abstract explorations of the far-side of club music techniques of Giuseppe Ielasi/Inventing Masks or the tropical soundscapes of Lievens Martens/Dolphins Into The Future.

Visit product page →British four-piece rock band Collateral are set to release their highly anticipated eponymous debut album on February 21, 2020. The album is released by Roulette Media Records and distributed worldwide through Cargo. Collateral have been busy in the studio since the release of their debut EP 4 Shots!'which was originally released on November 17, 2018 and featured the single Midnight Queen'. After the single got to the top of the Australian Radio Charts, it was then added to the main playlist on Planet Rock; the UK's biggest classic rock radio station (the single appears on the band's upcoming debut album).
The exciting and flamboyant Kent-based rock and roll band are comprised of Angelo Tristan (lead vocals, guitar), Todd Winger (guitar), Jack Bentley-Smith (bass) and Ben Atkinson (drums). On May 3, 2019, Collateral released their next single, Lullaby'which was the first new song taken from their highly anticipated debut album. The single was accompanied by a live style music video which was celebrated by Planet Rock and was premiered on their official website.
After the release of the 4 Shots!'EP, Collateral worked relentlessly to keep the momentum going. They won a Camden Rocks Festival competition out of 20,000 bands to play the main stage at the Electric Ballroom on June 1, 2019. A few months later, they won a competition between 40 bands at the Ramblin'Man Rumble to play the Rising Stage at the Ramblin'Man Fair festival 2019. The band drew the biggest crowd when they played the Rising Stage at Ramblin'Man.
One of their most exciting achievements for Collateral in 2019, was when they won a competition out of 200,000 entrants to support Jon Bon Jovi on his Runaway to Paradise Mediterranean Cruise departing Barcelona to Majorca on August 26th. Now, Collateral's hotly tipped debut album is likely to propel them next level. A lot of people don't know what to expect from the new album, as the band have been tight-lipped about the new songs. Collateral have created a state-of-the-art rock album that will enable fans to feel the blood, sweat and glory that went into the recording of every song.
'We wanted to stay away from the normal rules that apply to what you can and cannot put on an album,' says front man Angelo Tristan. 'The album contains all of our inspirations, and nothing's has been diluted. I'm very influenced by country music which is evident in the song About This Boy'. Jack is heavily influenced by 80's rock on tracks like Mr. Big Shot'and Promiseland'.
'One of the more Southern style tracks on the album is 'Merry-Go-Round.' It's a reflection of Todd's inspiration from bands that include Black Stone Cherry and Cadillac Three. Our drummer, Ben, comes from a far heavier metal background which really gives the songs their powerful edge.
'The album is comprised of nine songs - all killer and no filler. The recording of this album was an amazing experience from the get-go. To finally see this record come to life was remarkable. I hope the fans will share the same excitement we had when we made the album. Buckle up. We're in for one helluva ride!'

Now that the sounds of freedom rattle the glass and fill our lungs with bronchitis, they must be on red alert, ready to shine the light sings Patti Yang on Sounds of Freedom, the first single from her forthcoming album War On Love, out November 22 via Requiem Records.
She is talking about her home in the Mojave Desert, California, which although is both stunning and unusual, is also within eyesight and earshot of the largest Marine Corps base in the US; 29 Palms. As expected, training exercises are common and the Marines set up a community phone line for civilians to call in with comments and impressions.
It's the jumping off point for War On Love, a record concerned with privacy and digital voyeurism, the tenuous relationship we hold with our sense of reality, existential sabotage and impermanence.
I began working on the album by setting myself a challenge: to break out from the daily life cycle. Patti explored ancient medicine and the properties of sound by studying at the Integratron, a renowned temple dedicated to sonic bliss via quartz bowls played like a giant analog synthesizer.
Following an inner call, she moved from London to Joshua Tree, a small town in the Mojave Desert, California.
I fell in love with the soft, infinite silence and the open spaces which gave foundation to my research and creative work.
Songwriting began in Joshua Tree where recording spanned to London and Brooklyn, NY, at Rare Book Room, where the album was also mixed. Untethered by a specific style, the journey oscillates between unadorned hyperrealism and chaotic narratives, linked by dreamlike pop soundscapes.

In a transformative move towards crystal clear vocals and sharpened production, Look Up Sharp is an evolutionary leap from the thick fog and pastoral stillness of her Blackest Ever Black missives, You Know What It's Like (2016) and The Garden EP (2017). Three years since her plain-speaking debut album, the Melbourne-via-Berlin artist finds herself absorbed in London's sprawling mess.
The small-town dreams and inertia that preoccupied dal Forno's first album have dissolved into the chaotic city, its shifting identities, far-flung surroundings and blank faces. Look Up Sharp is the story of this life in flux, longing for intimacy, falling short and embracing the unfamiliar.
Dal Forno connects with kindred spirits and finds refuge in darkened alleys, secret gardens and wherever else she dares to look. In her own territory between plaintive pop, folk and post-punk dal Forno conjures the ghosts of AC Marias, Virginia Astley and Broadcast through her brushwork of art-damaged fx and spectral atmospheres.
The first half of the record is filled with dubbed-out humid bass lines, which tether stoned hazes of psychedelic synth work as on Took A Long Time'and No Trace.'These are contrasted with songs like I'm Conscious and So Much better'that channel the lilting power of YMG and are clear sequels-in-waiting to dead-eyed classics like Fast Moving Cars.'
The B-side begins with the feverish bass and meandering melody of Don't Follow Me,'which takes The Cure's A Forest'as its conceptual springboard. It's the clearest lyrical example since The Garden'of dal Forno's unmatched ability to unpick the masculine void of post-punk and new wave nostalgia to reflect contemporary nuance. Look Up Sharp reaches its satisfying conclusion with Push On'- dal Forno's most explicit foray into an undiscovered trip hop universe between Massive Attack and Tracey Thorn.
The album's last gasp finds personal validation in fragility: I push on / I'm the Place I'm Going,'a self discovery lifted by reverberant broken beats and glass-blown vocals. Adding further depth to Look Up Sharp are the instrumentals, which flow seamlessly between the vocal-led pieces. Hype Sleep'and Heart of Hearts'drink from the same stream as The Flying Lizard's dubbed-out madness and the vivid purple sunsets of Eno's Another Green World. While Creep Out of Bed'and Leaving for Japan'funnel the fourth-world psychedelia of Cyclobe's industrial-folk into the vortex of Nico's The Marble Index.
Conceived as a whole, Look Up Sharp is a singular prism in which light, sound and concept bend at all angles. A deeply personal but infinitely relatable album its many surfaces are complex but authentic, enduring but imperfect, hard-edged but delicate. A diamond. Look up sharp or you'll miss it.

Can Tan says: 'I remember myself stuck to the screen at the Video game Arcade (Fame City at 1988) when I saw the Ninja character Kunoichi and admired him so much.'
After the first sound was recorded, Can Tan started to make music for imagined arcade games. The first song was 'Soul Path' which gave its name to the album.
He started recording the songs in 2018, Okan Ya±lmaz played synths and showed his ninja skills in four songs.

Derek Jarman's 'In The Shadow of the Sun' forms part of a series of films, shot and edited on s8mm, grouped under the collective title 'The Art of Mirrors'. 'In The Shadow of the Sun' is the longest of these running at 54 minutes.
Filming took place between 1972-74 and the film was completed in 1974. When Derek showed the film he would play Verdi's requiem as an accompaniment. In 1980 the FDK in Berlin agreed to make a 16mm blow up of the s8mm film to be shown at the Berlinale forum.
The footage was blown-up to 16mm by John Hall of Colour Technique. Derek felt that the new version should have a new accompaniment and, with this in mind, approached Throbbing Gristle to provide the music.
In May 23 of 2017, Psychic TV performed two live soundtracks to 'In The Shadow of the Sun' at Cafe OTO in London.
The recordings on this LP were made that night. The finished film was premiered at the Berlin film festival in february 1981. In 2018 the British Film Institute undertook the making of a 2k scan from the 16mm negative and sound.

Visit product page →Lustmord is a Welsh electronic musician, composer and sound designer based in Los Angeles. Active since 1980 he has released a prolific body of work across various labels such as Touch, Hydra Head and Blackest Ever Black.
Often credited for starting the dark ambient genre with his Heresy'album in 1990, Lustmord's music has been described as sweeping and profound, a vast dreamlike soundscape that utilises organic and real-world scenes as source material. Lustmord albums have been made from caves, crypts, car crashes, cosmological activity, the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the site of the first ever nuclear detonation.
Lustmord and Cargo Records are happy to announce the launch of Vaultworks. Originally an imprint intended to release short editions of live CDs at his live shows, it is now launched as a wider platform for his work in general. Kick starting a planned series of new releases and reissues is the first time Vinyl and CD release of his soundtrack to Paul Schrader's 2017 film First Reformed, starring Ethan Hawke, Amanda Seyfried and Cedric Kyles.
The release features extended versions of the score formatted as a standalone album. The double vinyl edition includes an extra track 'Venice' which was featured at the Venice Film Festival red carpet event. The CD edition has tracks formatted to crossfade into each other for a continuous listening experience.

Remastered by Grammy-winning producer Christopher King, these recordings have been resurrected for a new generation of listeners.
The first hope which holds fast and unchanging, even in the most trying of circumstances. The second circumstance the way these recordings fell into the hands of producer, Ramona Stout, in Chicago at the dawn of the Obama era, when she had just about lost hope in her American Dream.
Over the course of five years (2006-2011) of vinyl hustling in Chicago's South and West Sides, these 45s came into Ramona's hands, mixed up in milk-crates stacked with Northern Soul, water-damaged jazz and Hall and Oates LPs. After much travel and time, Ramona has articulated the spirit that drove this music forward. In this collection, she writes of this music and its relationship to the struggling communities where the records were found.
With art direction by Grammy-winning graphic designer Susan Archie, this collection is a tangible, immersive experience in the struggles'the victories, the failures and the lingering hope'that defined Chicago in the post-Civil Rights era. It is intended as a cyclic swan-song, the last track, I Hear Only Silence Now'being a new version of the song which was the first on J's 1983 solo debut, Etiquette Of Violence'.Visit product page →
The new album was recorded in Prague, Berlin and Los Angeles as well as Wellingborough, England when J revisited Beck Studios where his former highly influential band, Bauhaus cut their seminal classic, Bela Lugosi's Dead'back in 1979.
The new album features contributions from Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre), Toby Dammit (Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds), Paul Wallfisch (Swans), Sean Eden (Luna), Rose McGowan, Asia Argento, Emily Jane White, Annabel (lee) and the great Czech violinist Karel Holas amongst others.
J sees the album as the culmination of 36 years of solo / collaborative work. It is also a coming home'of sorts as the label behind the release is the London based Glass Modern (the newly reactivated Glass Records) which originally released some of J's earliest critically acclaimed works.
Last autumn and early 2019 saw David J tour the world with Peter Murphy as a 40th Anniversary Celebration of Bauhaus. From Valparaiso to Auckland, St. Petersburg to California.

The Istanbul-based collective, guguou, announce their first album, 'Pas Matri', set for release by Shalgam Records.Visit product page →
The Istanbul-based collective, ha za vu zu, crafted their artistic mode of expression through situational aesthetics and performative gesture, often incorporating music among many elements.
The collective has since spawned another grouping, guguou, where music plays the lead role. guguou was founded after GüneoeŸ Terkol was invited to the Sao Paulo Biennale in 2017. Terkol was already performing with Güçlü Oztekin, and for the performance in Sao Paulo, they were joined by OaŸuz Erdin on acoustic/electronic drums and sound processing.
The three have been collaborating for the last four years at their home studio. gugugou draws on the forms, techniques and the strategies of experimental pop music. They utilize electronic tools to manipulate sound and vocals, experimenting with, or stretching popular forms, as well as processed sounds, low technology, electro acoustics, repetition and highly rhythmic music, accompanied by short and simple idiosyncratic vocalism. While the lyrics derive from every day encounters, meticulously rehearsed music performances are born from collective improvisations.
Pas Matri is the product of this interdisciplinary nature of their practice, of their range across an array of different mediums. They decided to record the album in late 2018, also using various material from old recordings.
The album was recorded between 2017 and 2019, mixed by OaŸuz Erdin and mastered by Barka±n Engin. Musicians such as Bora áeliker (guitar), Emre Akçora (saxophone) and Bulut áavaoeŸ (santoor) feature with guguou on some tracks.
