All the new material was recorded in the UK last year at Steve Winwood’s studio in the Cotswolds. In what has already been very busy 2012 for PiL the band recently returned to London to play a very special show at the Forum on August 11th resulting in a 5 out of 5 Live Review from The Independent

This Is PiL- The release of the album This Is PiL earlier this year resulted in the below response from various media:

MOJO Magazine- 4 out of 5 "It's simply a joy to hear Lydon in fine voice, getting stuck into thorny matters with his own unique, raw nerve gusto, backed by a cookin' band"

The Times-  4 out of 5 "Never mind the Pistols- this PiL is worth taking"

The Guardian-  4 out of 5 stars ...."You're more often struck by Lydon's determination to keep pushing forward into uncharted territory, to head as he puts it on the track of the same name, for deeper water"

The Quietus "This is a 63 minute chunk of music that wavers marvellously from the irresistible, the effortlessly accessible to the downright weird"

Loud & Quiet Magazine- 8 out of 10 "This Is PiL is an evolution; a step forward with eyes locked straight ahead, no heads looking back at past glories"

Q Magazine- 4 out of 5  "Representing the experimental instincts of Lydon the teenage Can fan, it sees him putting his ire to use over spectrally funky tracks warped and shaped by Lu Edmonds's byzantine guitars"

Drowned In Sound- 8 out of 10 ...."It comfortably manages to be what a comeback strives to be but seldom is; adventurous, celebratory and - above all - adding to an already admirable legacy"

Music OMH.com -  5 out of 5 "This is Public Image Ltd at its best. This record is good. Outrageously good" "He sounds vital on these songs, so goddamn vital, a man and a band with more ideas than they know what to do with" “Buy this record. This is PiL. Isn’t that enough for you?"

John Lydon talks about 'This Is PiL':
"Well, 12 songs, where do I begin? Everything and anything that attracts my attention. 'One Drop' is about my early youth in Finsbury Park.  Fantastic! Hello, we're all teenagers don't you forget it! At any age, stay young. 'Lollipop Opera' is basically a beautiful bunch of background noise and music to sum up Britain and all its wonderful ambidextrousness! 'The Room I Am In' well that's about drugs and council flats. And there's a tragedy that still continues. 'I Must Be Dreaming' Well, you know, I must be to put up with these governments."

Following on from their monumental live performance at BBC Radio 6 Birthday Celebrations at Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday March 16th which saw PiL include and baptise 2 new songs: Deeper Water and One Drop, PiL also played 2 very special shows at London’s Heaven showcasing more tracks from the new album with The Times commenting “This was and evening uncompromising art music, worthy of the total concentration of the audience.”  The track One Drop has now also received airplay from BBC Radio 6, XFM and Absolute Radio.

Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time PiL's music and vision earned them 5 UK Top 20 Singles and 5 UK Top 20 Albums. With a shifting line-up and unique sound John Lydon guided the band from their debut album 'First Issue' in 1978 through to 1992's 'That What Is Not',   before a 17 year hiatus.  John then resurrected PiL in 2009 playing live worldwide. Now after 20 years yet another new and unique chapter is set to unfold in the shape of new PiL material. John Lydon- After fronting the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd in 1978.  Outside of PiL John has released several solo records and collaborations. He also brings quality TV to the masses. Lu Edmonds- Multi instrumentalist and former guitarist in The Damned Lu joined PiL in 1986 recording and playing on the album Happy? and co-writing the  album ‘9’ adding yet another dimension to the PiL sound. Bruce Smith- Former drummer in The Pop Group and The Slits became percussionist for PiL also in 1986 playing and recording on the albums Happy? and ‘9’. Seen as a drumming virtuoso, Bruce Smith brought his unique style into the fold.  Scott Firth- A bass player/multi instrumentalist that has collaborated and played with a variety of top musicians and bands including Steve Winwood, John Martyn, and Elvis Costello.

“One Drop is a reflection of where I grew up in Finsbury Park, London. The area that shaped me, and influenced me culturally and musically, a place I will forever feel connected to. But within this I am also saying it doesn’t matter where you come from, we all go through the same emotions especially the disenchanted youth of today, yesterday and the future. Bearing in mind the Olympics are in London this year and who knows what that could bring for London and our country….” - John Lydon
