£21.99The Australian master of the dark synth arts is back and - boy - he is out for blood. We've been missing Marc Dwyer solo project Buzz Kull since his latest single Last In The Club from late 2019 and since back then we knew he was up to something.Visit product page →
At first glimpse, the minimal wave days of We Were Lovers seem far away now that Marc has gone full Club Body Music with his upcoming new album, but there is a thread that binds Buzz Kull hits from the past such as Into The Void, Avoiding The Light and New Kind Of Cross with these ten new cuts: a thread of darkness proper to the most handsome man in the game and that’s here to stay.
Echoes of 90’s era Front 242 and Front Line Assembly will resonate from tracks like Fascination and Dead Inside; elements of early body music flirting with the dark side of British synthpop will rave from the grooves of Dancing with Machines and Man on the Beat, while late 80’s Belgian new beat cellar-like vibes rise from Do You See and Burn it to the Ground.
But Buzz Kull's third full-length is not just about music subgenres we all know and love, it’s about a feeling that comes alive only with the dark and drives you through the small hours just to leave you drained and filled at once.
The creature of the night is on the loose, the sticky dancefloor its natural habitat, its lust for the upside-down world of the club can't be cured.

Nuovo Testamento is the Los Angeles & Bologna-based trio featuring members of Horror Vacui, Sheer Mag, Tørsö, Terremoto and Crimson Scarlet. With the addition of Chelsey Crowley on vocals, synthesists Andrea Mantione & Giacomo Zatti found that their initial coldwave tracks, originally written for the male voice, took on an undeniable synthpop feel.
While still recording these songs for the debut Exposure EP in 2019, the band leaned into this evolution and their shared love of Italo disco, beginning to write what would become the New Earth LP.
Recorded in isolation during a global pandemic, New Earth is a dark Italo record dappled with light. For eight new tracks, dancing synths perfectly balance the rich dream of a charmed life with melancholy.
Guitars have taken a step back, allowing disco beats to flood the floor and joyful fun to prevail. The record anticipates a return to dance spaces, imagines shared experiences and celebrates personal power.
Produced by sound engineer Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon, Boy Harsher and many more), with vocal recording by Riki and featuring guest vocals from B. Sven Gustavson (Spectres, Nouveaux), New Earth reflects international influences from the goth club scene to Hi-NRG classics, reminiscent of Italian Baby Records, Mute Records and the spaces in between.

Boston is not exactly worldwide known for its coldwave or synth pop artists. Most of us know the Capital of Massachusetts because of its hardcore legacy that still continues today. And yet, just like flowers in a rugged land, here comes House Of Harm, a post-punk trio whose new approach to the genre was showcased on their two tape EPs, earning them a cult international following as well as an imposing line up of supporting gigs opening for Editors, She Past Away, Lust For Youth, and The Cure's Reeves Gabrels.
Nine songs where timeless melodies of Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me-era Cure perfectly match French coldwave moodiness, enhanced by Cocteau Twins ethereal airiness and Creation Records seminal shoegaze sounds. Just enough light reaches House Of Harm's base layer, giving life to infectious hooks and unforgettable mantras. The gritted core of every song makes expansive moments of release cathartic, always tethered by commanding drums.
Check out the very first single they wrote Isolator and its melancholic synth pop refrain, or Against The Night whose darkwave is as claustrophobic as One Hundred Years. Catch sounds almost like a Sarah Records hit, while the title-track hurls us back into the bleak realms of the Sisterhood.
Different influences but everything is just in its place simply because House Of Harm are the rare band where you can feel every individual member's devotion to each song's world.
RIYL: The Cure, Depeche Mode, A Flock Of Seagulls, For Against, Drab Majesty.

Exactly two years after their latest Front Teeth LP, the Zürich-based duo VEIL OF LIGHT is back with a new album called Inflict. This is their fourth full-length and their industrial-tinged synth-based post-punk keeps on getting better, making Inflict their strongest release to date.
In these eight new cuts you'll hear how their sound has gotten heavier, bulkier, even more beat-driven.
Tracks like So Hard and Holy Wars display drums pounding like noises from a rusty machinery, synths on You Done Me Wrong and Fact2019 they're so sharp they can slice through your skin, Europe and Animal Instinct feature melodies from the abandoned industrial district of your ghost town.
We could go on but you are probably aware of what these two Swiss are all about, and if you don't you'll know the Veil Of Light when you face it.

By now you must be already familiar with Qual being the solo project of William Maybelline, one half of the Lebanon Hanover duo.
When William first stepped into the scene as an individual artist back in 2014, he declared the intention to explore the very grimmest areas in synth-based music. While Sable debut LP was unapologetically gothic in subject matter and sound, Qual's most recent and uncompromising outputs of Cupio Dissolvi EP and last year's album The Ultimate Climax merge the despairingly freezing properties of 90s EBM with the more aggressive sensibilities of industrial techno without ever diluting the intensity of either.
Brand new 4-track EP Cyber Care is the perfect synthesis of both these aspects. On A side the slither of the title-track and the mechanical assault of Inject Your Mind will make you feel the hardest, most vicious side of Maybelline's creation. B side's I Have To Return Some Video Tapes and Motherblood will toss you into a ice-cold galaxy of paranoia and disorientation.
This is not an appealing world, as Qual is impossible to listen to half-heartedly - it will drag you by the jaw and butcher you in a dirty alleyway.

Profit Prison is the solo work of Seattle-based Parker Lautenschlager, previously in the hardcore band Marrow, power electronics act Anteinferno, and black metal cult Bhereg.
Conceived in 2016, Profit Prison explores lyrical themes of isolation, estrangement, deprivation and paranoia against an aural backdrop of synthpop, post-punk and abstract industrial music.
Inspired by Franz Kafka as much as Kraftwerk, Profit Prison achieves a cold minimalism that speaks to the nightmarish dystopia in which it was created.
The debut Myra was released on cassette by Dominick Fernow's Hospital Productions in 2017. Six tracks where Hi-NRG disco beats and 70's throbbing synths melt with trembling, reverberated vocals and dark dungeon synth passages.
Artwork by Italian Noise legend Matteo Castro (Lettera 22, Kam Hassah, Second Sleep label).

£18.99HøRD is the solo project of Bordeaux-based synthwave producer Sebastien Carl.Visit product page →
Started in 2014, Sebastien has proven himself to be able to gather a cult fan-base around his creation in a short time, collaborating with artists as Hante, Winter Severity Index and Black Bug and performing live in most European countries.
After a first album on Antoni Maiovvi and Vercetti Technicolor's Giallo Disco and an EP on SNTS' own label Sacred Court, his second full-length record is due September 14 on Avant! Records.
Parallels features eight new compositions that further focus HøRD's distinguishing features: abstract almost liquid synth passages, deep analogue beats, veiled vocals. Uptempo or slow, instrumental or sung, danceable or rarefied it doesn't really matter as the album as a whole ends up resulting in a strong cinematic appeal.
A soundtrack for a journey away from the present time and into an intimate, maybe even nostalgic dimension.

£25.49A Requiem For Father Murphy is the latest and final offering from the iconic Italian occult duo, Father Murphy. Composed in the classical Requiem format, Rising follows the "Trilogy of the Cross", a series of records that recounts the journey of the fictional character Father Murphy, and subsequently the band itself.Visit product page →
The album was mixed and mastered by long-time collaborator Gregory Saunier (Deerhoof), who is instrumental in helping craft Father Murphy's sonic descent over the years.
With Rising, the legend of Father Murphy reaches its culmination. Having gone from religious fanatic, to heretic priest, and ultimately concealing to his final fate on the cross, Rising is the moment Father Murphy finally meets his death. Taking the form of a requiem, Rising will be the final album from Father Murphy.
It brings an end to a journey into faith; one longing for salvation and embracing failure. Across the Italian occult duo's 2015 Trilogy of the Cross'(the Calvary cassingle, Croce LP, and Lamentations EP) Father Murphy's sound reached down into grave new depths, more inspired than ever by music from their Catholic heritage. They've long been integrating a wider variety of field recordings, empty space, drones, and sonic processes alongside their core elements of pounding percussion, ecclesiastical organs, gnarled guitars, and ritualistic chanting.
Again working with longtime mixer/masterer Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Rising takes the group's music into new territory. The format of a requiem mass for the dead'in this case for the late Father Murphy himself'brings with it all manner of traditional structural codes, musical reprises, and lyrical rhyming schemes.
Certain moments see the music adhere far more closely to requia traditions, including the grander sounds of timpani or trombone, and following the metres and rhyme schemes borrowed from traditional texts.
The words themselves have all been rewritten for Father Murphy's requiem however, disengaging from their standardized religious message. The lyrics across Rising are far longer and more complex than the shorter chants and verse that made up previous albums, while the variety and sheer detail of sounds used by the duo has never before been wider or more daring.
With Rising: A Requiem for Father Murphy, the project reaches its zenith.

£18.99Fictional larger than life characters come in all forms and ways but no one expected East Rome acid minimal synth-punk duo Holiday Inn to spread their cult in such a distinctive manner, overthrowing all sets of rules in the peninsula's stuffy DIY circuit and uniting techno-industrial enthusiasts, hardcore noisers and theatrical dark wavers. At some point though someone just had to do it!Visit product page →
Co-released by Avant! Records and Maple Death Records, Torbido is Holiday Inn's debut full-length and by all accounts their strongest manifesto yet.
A collaboration between Gabor (Aktion, Metro Crowd) on voice and Frenchman Bob Junior (Trans Upper Egypt, Bobsleigh Baby, Hiss) on synth and drum machine, they leave their best on stage, live shows have cemented their ill reputation: Gabor is a lanky dude and struts onstage with a boxer's pre match ritual dance, ready to vomit words in your face while Bob's composure never fails to spread misery and mystery through his vintage noise assault setup. Torbido kicks off with She, a hallucinogenic dub infused punk anthem, Dirty Town is an industrial boogie for wide eyed dreamers, Feel Free! is an electro jungle b-boys rhythmic speed induced breakbeat tune for the future.
The feverish magic happens on No Speaking, where Holiday Inn turns an acid techno tune into a circuit breaking warped frenzy. Holiday Inn are shaped and scarred by the unauthorized development of buildings once considered a sign of gleaming growth in the Roman suburbs. It's nostalgic and nasty, and will not have a bright future and let's not forget that Torbido means murky and sinister, so come on and take a plunge into Tevere's mudbanks.

Ritual Veil is the Portland, OR based synthwave outfit formed by A. Alexander Wolfe (vocals), Tim Iserman (synth & programming), Wolfgang Williams (guitar).
Coming from bands in their DIY punk community such as Steel Chains, Smoke Rings, Petite and Flesh, Ritual Veil formed to create something fresh but informed by Depeche Mode as well as contemporaries She Past Away, Body Of Light, and Drab Majesty, all under the aesthetic influence of Dario Argento's Suspiria and Inferno films, as well as the artwork of Tom Of Finland.
After only a short time playing together, the band released their debut cassette release Wolf In The Night in the fall of 2017. A six track EP of synth wave that somehow feels like an updated take on the 35+ year-old sound - not feeling dated in the slightest which plagues many bands who attempt this style of music today.
After multiple sold out cassette and CD editions of this EP in the U.S., Russia, and Spain, AVANT! Records is proud to announce the proper vinyl edition of Wolf In The Night.
Post-Punk.com editor in chief William Baker had this to say of the EP: 'The six track EP is full of poppy post-punk and gothic rock imbued with the sensual crooning of A. Alexander Wolfe, the precision hooks of Wolfgang Williams'guitar, and the melodic frequency modulations from the synthesis of Tim Iserman.
The sound of each track comes together with warm nostalgia clothed in leather and lace, suiting the erotic imagery that you would find at a new romantic cabaret, or Fassbinder's Querelle. Every track is crafted as if it was a single, with the title track, "Gray Filter", "All Black", and "Favorite Toy" all disco dance floor friendly, and the remaining "Surface" and "Time Again" to wind the record down with delightful dirge'.

Latorre and Sergi Algiz, founders of the Cønjuntø VacÃø label and also in the post-punk band Wind Atlas, unveil a new act more oriented towards pop music.Visit product page →
SDH is change, alteration, distortion, metamorphosis. Their synth-pop songs, sprinkled with EBM and techno, are mysterious, obtuse and suggestive. After their debut digital EP Tell Them from last March, here comes the self-titled first full-length album.
Eight tracks driven by sinuous synth lines, steady beats and Andrea'sensual, nocturnal vocals at times reminding of the late Dolores O'Riordan, give the record one overall lush, velvety feeling. Like a dive at the heart of the Spanish night, but nowhere near any movida. Instead an isolated, sombre yet erotic one, like two long-time lovers walking home in the early morning hours.

Qual is finally back with his much-anticipated second full-length album. On The Ultimate Climax William Maybelline takes the hints of his previous Cupio Dissolvi EP to a fully extended sulphurous formula.
Eight tracks where traditional goth standards get updated to new, bizarre heights.
The opener Black Crown is a brooding industrial, almost power electronics assault.
Above Thee Below Thee is a powered-up disco nightmare with BM-like volcals, drenched in factory steam and urban filth. Take Me Higher has some sort of electro-funk bassline to it.
The closing track is a 155 bpm epitaph reminiscent of Czech Doomcore pioneers Fifth Era.
The past is gone, the future is corrupted. The is no time but the present to brutally unload this Existential Nihilism thus let The Ultimate Climax unfold.

£18.99Sally Dige is a multidisciplinary artist known for her darkly poetic yet highly danceable electro-pop songs, DIY stylistic videos, design and visual art. Sallys deep and commanding voice, coupled with her analogue-visual-processes and overlapping artistic mediums has formed an identity that oscillates between the edges of aggression and fragility, old and new.Visit product page →
Holding On was created during the time of intense inner turmoil. Despite being stretched to her emotional limits, Sally did not let the weight of her circumstances break her, instead channeling all of her pain and fears into the production of a series of incredibly powerful songs. Stunningly, Sally used only her voice and a single synth to create this album. Even with so little gear, the songs are anything but minimal.
Each song has a minimum of 100 tracks and, for some songs, 100 tracks for just the drum section alone. Every audible sound has 20 other sounds swimming beneath it. These are songs written for dance floors but are sung about loneliness, death and the meaninglessness of existence. Sallys work tows the line between a blissful innocence and a heavy darkness.
Think Gina X flavored post punk-disco rubbing against Twitch-era Ministrys lost Sade collab or Enya on LSD after a break up.

£14.49After the digital release of the Genderland single in June, the new 6-track EP by DRIFT. is out.Visit product page →
Musically, the new songs complement each other. Throbbing beats are punctuated with melodies, vocals floating in layers, their dreamy veil disguising a strong message. Strong and anything but stable. Lead song Genderland with its rumbling bass, syncopated electro-reggae rhythm and dub effects, it's Ace of Bass filtered through Darkwave.
Paradise throbs and clanks and drones and pulses with expectation, celestial multitracked vocals. Lines, by contrast, is a bubbling and burbling, bass-driven affair, complete with a melodic nod to West End Girls. Social Front marries its message of female empowerment to bouncy electropop, influenced by post-punk performance artist and No Wave singer Lizzy Mercier Descloux. Calculations draws the EP to a close in a fittingly anthemic manner.
If first EP Black Devotion was all about searching for a sound, her new recording signals a shift, a drift towards self-determination, a PVC-clad step into the murky mixed-message waters of 21st century gender politics.

Emerging sometime around 2011 under the oppressive skies of Philadelphia, these overcast malcontents are fitly connected to a city engrossed in shadow-soaked vices and dilapidated architecture.
Not to imply that there isn't a comforting sort of gloominess in this musical malaise as Night Sins frolic down a musical path originally cut by The Sisters of Mercy and Clan of Xymox, with enough hints of Pink Turns Blue, The Mission, and other extensions into 80's darkwave to produce memorable songwriting that stands on its own.
Bass and drums punch through the mist thick as thieves, guitar lines circle like falcons overhead, minimal synths street clean some of the residual dirt, and singer-songwriter Kyle Kimball's vocals confidently press through an intimate fog. There is a brilliant light in the midst of dimness, and Night Sins is carrying the torch.

£5.99Hand Of Dust is a trio from Copenhagen. They somehow belong the Posh Isolation brood but they play a personal variation of dark rock music with roots in folk and with a lot of focus on songwriting and lyrics.Visit product page →
Originally formed in order to play the acoustic songs of singer Bo Høyer Hansen as an electric setting, it quickly grew into a band. In September 2012 the band released a demo tape and in January 2014 they put out a 7" EP on NY label Blind Prophet called "Without Grace Or Glory".
Recently Hand Of Dust reentered the studio and recorded two songs. Speaking of this upcoming 7' single, Danish webzine VORTEXAS says "I remember seeing them playing one of their first concerts: I nudged the guy next to me and exlaimed 'They got like a neo-folk thing going, but electric, don't they?' to which he answered: 'Nah, they're more like Dead Moon.' In a way I hear both". With some good ol' Gun Club vibe, we might add.
For now you may enjoy these two new tunes: not many bands these days can create such a personal sound when it comes to dark folk/rock music. One time pressing of 500. Comes with insert.

So this Return operates on two levels. First of all and most intuitive, being this their second album, it is their own return. Second meaning relates to the current state of asphyxiating climate of restoration in national politics. A few governments fell in the last few years and after a brief time of confusion, a new clean face in a white shirt is leading (but is he actually?) the country.
By the looks of facts so far thou, one might be wondering if these government fools have a clue of what they're doing. Lucky for us, Horror Vacui surely do!
