This strictly limited European release couples two recent solo singles from Derek See (guitarist for The Bang Girl Group Revue and Joel Gion and The Primary Colours), and finds this versatile musician exploring the psychedelic side of his musical personality.
The initial US releases of this records sold out within a few weeks of their release. As for the respective 'A' sides, 'She Came This Way' has been described as being a lost track from The White Album, while 'U Line (Trip Two)' takes on a heavier, underwater fuzzed out blast, all within the confines of a 3 minute pop single. The flip sides, meanwhile, explore the mind trip of Blaxploitation grooves ('McQueen (Slight Return)', and trippy folk rock ('Love Is The Plan')

Angeline King and Derek See began The Bang Girl Group Revue (hereafter The Bang for short) in 2009, driven by their love of 1960's soul, girl group and beat music and style. The group became an immediate success on the live circuit with their reinvention of little known soul/ beat gems and a handful of original tunes, written in the style of the 1960's.
While The Bang went through several early lineup changes (one of which was captured on the debut 45 RPM single "Another Notch On His belt" which quickly sold out), it gelled beautifully for the recording of their debut LP, "Soul Shangri-La". The album was recorded at a private all analog studio in the San Francisco bay area, and the group is proud of the fact that there is no digital processing of any sort used on the album. While The Bang would never deny that their music is based firmly in the 1960's, they have seen firsthand through live performance that it is a sound that spans generations and appeals to not only those who lived through the era and mod revivalists but also those in their teens and twenties who may be getting a first taste of the soul of this music.
The Bang made a conscious decision to record our album using not only the technology of the era that their music is drawn from but also, more importantly, recorded it in a way that shows the strengths of the band. The ladies' vocals were all tracked together; the three of them gathered around two microphones (whoever was lead singer had her own mic while the backings where sang into the same mic). This is the way it was done, and it presents not only a complete performance but also the natural blend of the group. There are points where Angeline and Tisha Joy's harmonies are so close they sound as though they are one voice overdubbed!
The music performed by the gentlemen was recorded by the band, together, in the same room. Nothing compares to the passion and heart that a group of musicians create when they are in the same room, making eye contact, watching physical communication. This is the root of the "magic" of the old recordings, and The Bang captures the heart and soul of the era with just enough of a contemporary edge.

The KVB release their new immersive and hypnotic album 'Minus One' on November 18th via A Recordings. The album follows hot on the heels of outstanding stand alone single 'Run Away' released on Ample Play Records last month.
The KVB is the audio/visual project of London youngsters Nicholas Wood & Kat Day, who combine reverb heavy wall of sound guitars, minimal haunting strings and grinding bass synths, messed up motorik drum machine beats and delay drenched vocals with a backdrop of imagery to accompany the symphony, that's nothing short of life affirming.
'Minus One' is in fact The KVB's third album, their second full length LP 'Immaterial Visions' which came with an accompanying remix EP, featuring mixes from underground techno pioneers Regis and Silent Servant was only released in February this year.
The KVB is a group with a sense of urgency about it, to do what they need to do, with full commitment and without delay. It's a tangible attitude that runs throughout 'Minus One'.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre has been somewhat of a musical commune for many respected musicians over the years, a band from the 1990's that has spurned other great bands ever since. Indeed, this is a band that has witnessed many incarnations, since its inception in San Francisco in 1992.

The vinyl comes in a gatefold 180 grm format. The conception that became The Third Sound was first formed when former Singapore Sling and Hudson Wayne member Hákon Aðalsteinsson left his home of Iceland and music collective Vebeth to the contrasting rooftops of Rome.
Drawing from his roots of shoegaze neo-psychedelia he made slight of hand gestures towards country, blues and Kraut and recorded his first album with 60's aficionado Francesco D'Onofrio.
Returning home he finished the album with guitar prodigy Hallberg Daði Hallergsson (Jakobinarina), and began experimenting with new mixing techniques being inspired by a theory known as The Third Sound.
To materialize the band that would explore this concept, he moved to Berlin to form an internationally diverse five piece band hailing from as far as France, Sweden, Venezuela, New York and Australia idyllically representing the new eclectic Berlin sound.
Sharing the stage with Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) as well as Kid Congo in their first few shows

For fans of Lee Hazlewood, Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Jesus & Mary Chain, & Spiritualized
Gunman and the Holy Ghost is another music project created by Hákon Aðalsteinsson (The Third Sound). The songs were written in Berlin during the coldest months of the winter then recorded and mixed next spring time. Now available on 180 gram vinyl.
From a review by JJ Baker: When I started listening to Gunman & The Holy Ghost it actually made me laugh. Such misery! This is melancholy with gristle! This album is barefaced in it's misery-it doesn't resist it, it uses it.
Song titles like I Don't Believe In Love Anymore and Oh Lord, Let Me Die In Pain are pretty good indication of what we're in for here, though there's great variation on this deliciously dark album. Opener The Eight To Five Train To Nothing snared me right in the lip and I was willfully dragged up through that ink black water and onto the good ship Gunman.
A relatively upbeat tune, it has some sad, sad lyrics:I would want you here but you're nowhere near so I just keep steaming on; Into the wilderness and unhappiness right back where I came from Lines like this are so damn dark, they bring a smile to my face¦

Magic Castles had self-released three albums (two in 2009), all of which are currently out of print, before fans landed a You Tube video in the hands of the legendary Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) via the We Are The Radio/Dead TV experimental social media phenomenon in 2010. On hearing the tracks Anton quickly asked the band to sign to his label which they did in 2011.
Magic Castles are a band from Minneapolis Minnesota that was abruptly formed in 2006 by Jason Edmonds, with the help of guitar-ace Jeremiah Doering and a rotating cast of players and friends.
Lyrically concerned with trolls, golden birds, and other creatures conjured from the lands of the mushroomed mind, the band takes a journey-is-better-than-the destination approach.
Inspired by Spacemen 3, Skygreen Leopards, Galaxie 500, the band combines warm Farfisa drones with hazy guitars and bright vocal harmonies to create something similar without sounding redundant.

1. Death Dreams
2. Now I'm a Little Cloud

This 7 track mini album release runs over 27 minutes Alex Zhang Hungtai AKA Dirty Beaches started off as a one man band in 2005, Montreal and has since released a dozen releases on various independent labels.
A trans-pacific nomad and genre hopping sound smith, his past releases include: drone instrumentals, films scores, and his fascination with dissecting popular american music like blues, rockabilly, soul, RNB, and hip hop, often rendering them to the point where its no longer recognizable.
His latest release WATERPARK is a film score written for Director Evan Prosofsky's same titled film, and explores the neutral element of sound in a massive indoor water park located in west Edmonton Mall, in the province of Alberta. A vacation home to countless stranded Canadians with no vacation in sight.
The instrumentation of oscillators, heavily reverberated strings, mellotron/chamberlain, and experimental electric guitar sets the mood for this bizarre plastic tropical paradise thats within a shopping mall.
