At the time of its release in 2005, Take Fountain was the first Wedding Present album for nine years. David Gedge had spent the intervening period releasing recordings by Cinerama and you can certainly hear the influence of his 'other' group on this LP.

Take Fountain is as eloquent an emotional discourse as he has mustered [Mojo].

Fans have long since recognised Gedge as more poet than pop star. Like Byron without the marsh fever, Take Fountain confirms his status as an extraordinary songwriter [The Times].

Fountain, incidentally, is a main East to West avenue in Los Angeles. When an aspiring starlet asked the film-star Bette Davis for advice on "the best way to get into Hollywood", Ms Davis replied "Take Fountain!"
