Here comes a new punk. If you know anything about me - as in Andrea, the record label's head - you know I have a thing for Oi since I was a teenage skinhead. And with Avant! being coldwave/synthpop label, our next release couldn't be more special.
No Filter are three children of the French region of Dauphiné, active in the black metal scene for 20 years through different projects.
They created No Filter with the aim of exploring punk, Oi and coldwave sounds.
They started by singing in English but after their first demo they decided to opt for French to improve their lyrics by singing in their own native language. Themes addressed in their songs are violence, hatred, party nights, the countryside, their roots and friendship. "Synth punk, bagarre et blousons noirs" in their own words.
Musically speaking they somehow fit in the current Cold Oi French scene (Bromure, Syndrome 81, Cran, Kronstadt) but they exaggerate the synth/wave element ending up sounding like one unprecedented, fresh as hell mix between New Order and The 4 Skins.
If you think you've heard this one before it's because one year ago they self-released a 10-track cassette called "Sans Filtre" which is exactly what we are pressing now on vinyl for the first time because this was simply too good to stay only on tape forever.
To make this even more special we have recruited Canadian multi-instrumentalist and artist Nakkabre (Conifère, Spleen, Vespéral, HazeHound) to do a brand new artwork and spice things up for the occasion!
Black vinyl LP edition limited to 400 is out 22 November.

A collaboration between Ruptured in Lebanon and Touch in the UK.- "Wishah" (meaning veil in Arabic) is a composition in five stages, written by Youmna Saba between 2021 and 2022, for voice, oud and electronics.
Following her previous solo works "Njoum" (2014) and "Arb’een" (40) (2017), this album marks a significant turning point in Saba's journey. Created after leaving Beirut and settling in Paris, "Wishah" reveals a profound shift in her musical expression, informed by rigorous research in the sonic properties of sung Arabic phonemes and their role in shaping synthesised electronic sounds. The album employs a digital extension for the oud, a concept developed by Saba in her research project 'Taïma’.
This device enhances the oud's sonic range, seamlessly integrating synthesised electronics. It also amplifies subtle, often overlooked sounds generated during playing, such as resonances and fingerboard friction. The composition is organized into five distinct stages, each contributing to a process of gradual revelation. As the tracks unfold, they strip away layers of constructed emotions and perceptions that have been intricately woven over time, to expose a space that no longer exists. Wishah is a farewell to home. Youmna Saba (born in Beirut, 1984) is a musician, composer and musicologist.
Her current research focuses on instrument and space resonances in different sonic and musical contexts. With four albums to this date, she has collaborated with musicians of different musical expressions such as Kamilya Jubran, Floy Krouchi, Mike Cooper and the Neue Vocalsolisten ensemble, and has taken part in numerous artist residencies.
She is the laureate of the first sound residency at Quai Branly Museum, Paris (2022-2023) with her research project and installation “La Réserve des Non-Dits”, now on view at the museum; and a laureate of the music residency program at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2020-2021).Tracklisting:

ANTON NEWCOMBE and DOT ALLISON announce that they will be releasing an album together under the moniker All Seeing Dolls. ‘’Parallel’ will be out in February 2025. Today they share the single ‘That’s Amazing Grace’.
Anton Newcombe is the founder, the sole constant and the creative mastermind at the centre of one of music’s most fascinating bands; Brian Jonestown Massacre. He’s a frontman, songwriter, composer, studio owner, multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, father and force of nature.
There have been 21 BJM albums over the last 30 years, each embarking on their own mind-expanding adventure and exploring the outer realms of rock’n’roll; psychedelic rock, country-blues, snarling rock’n’roll, blissed-out noise-pop and more. Newcombe has established himself as a once-in-a-lifetime talent, a revolutionary force in modern music and an underground hero. Dot Allison released her debut solo album Afterglow in 1999.
Over the years she has strived to keep the listener on a journey – and herself too. She revolts against what she has done before, to evolve and not just occupy the same space. That journey has taken her from Afterglow’s broad church (trip-hop, Tim Buckley-esque ballads, dance tracks, chilled psychedelia) to the sultry synth-pop of We Are Science (2002), the lush, baroque Exaltation Of Larks (2007) and the eclectic, rootsy drama of Room 7½ (2009). After a hiatus to raise her family she returned with the graceful acoustic folk record Heart-Shaped Scars (2021) and the haunting, barely there beauty of Consciousology (2023).
The range of guest stars on Allison’s records is equally broad: where else would you find a cast list that includes Kevin Shields, Hal David, Paul Weller, Pete Doherty and Darren Emerson. Two Times UK Blues Award winner Mississippi MacDonald presents his third album on APM Records. ‘I Got What You Need’ is a statement from a troubadour coming into town bearing songs of soul searching, of spiritual uplift, and of tunes to groove to. MacDonald continues to be an excellent interpreter of southern soul and two more songs from the stable of Memphis studio and publishing house Ecko in Hard Luck and Trouble and the title track prove this. So too the band’s take on the R&B classic We’re Gonna Make It which in MacDonald’s hands really swings. Sinking is an epic ballad in which to lose yourself completely. The gravelly gospel tones on If I Could Only Hear My Mother Pray Again and the imploring emotion on Your Dreams have MacDonald stretching out vocally. Two self-penned instrumentals pay tribute to the greats; 3.35AM, to one of MacDonald’s prime influences Freddie King, and Soul City One to the in-house studio sound of Stax.The album is rich in variety, vibe and soulful energy. It’s MacDonald’s Blues and a whole lot more. As guest artist with the Take Me To The River All Stars in 2024 featuring the legendary Hi Rhythm, MacDonald performed on stage at Red Rooster and was filmed in session with Eric Gales and Jools Holland.
