Sonic Youth's eponymous debut EP, reissued in a deluxe double- LP edition on the band's own Goofin imprint, was recorded in late 1981 at Radio City Music Hall in NYC and originally released on composer Glenn Branca's Neutral label.
The album is loosely based on compositions the newly formed group had performed at that year's week-long Noisefest event (and remains the only recorded document of an early line-up featuring actor Richard Edson on drums).
The newly remastered vinyl also features extra live material from a 1981 gig, and a track from a previously unheard studio session.

In 1988, after hinting that a tribute to the Beatles' White Album was in the works, the band about-faced and delivered this brain-sick celebration of pop-culture and The Material Girl in particular.
The album has been spectacularly remastered and manufactured to provide hi-fi reproductions of such favorites as Needle-Gun, MacBeth,Ó and Mike Watt's original demo recording of Burnin Up.
