Slow Motion Addict (X) British singer/songwriter Carina Round marks her third consecutive Record Store Day release with the tenth anniversary release of her third studio album, the critically acclaimed - "Slow Motion Addict' making its vinyl debut, re-packaged as "Slow Motion Addict (X)' the definitive collection, including the original album, compiled with previously unreleased and highly sought after bonus tracks as the 2 x LP 'Slow Motion Rehab' and 'Slow Motion Addict - A Film' making it's DVD debut.
This collection has been specifically compiled for Carina's immensely loyal and passionate fan base, who have long championed for this release, in addition to to the many newer supporters Carina has gained as a member of the LA and Jerome AZ based band - Puscifer, with whom Carina is more recently a member, alongside fellow band mates including Maynard James Keenan, also of the bands Tool and A Perfect Circle, some of whom are discovering Carina's solo repertoire for the first time.
Proving herself as one of UK's most enigmatic songstresses since the release of her 2001 debut album 'The First Blood Mystery'. Following the release of her fourth critically acclaimed studio album “Tigermending”, British singer/songwriter Carina Round returns from a brief spell of touring and recording with her other musical endeavours Puscifer and Early Winters with a full-length remix album of its predecessor, the aptly titled “Tigermixes”.
Collaborating with a host of talent from both her native England and resident US, “Tigermixes” is an exaggerated, re-imagination of Round’s skillfully crafted works, quite unlike any of her releases to date. Boasting the remix and production efforts of an eclectic cut of standout acts including: Puscifer (Maynard James Keenan and Mat Mitchell), Curt Smith (Tears For Fears), Phil Mossman (LCD Soundsystem) and personally selected underground and breakthrough talents, including members of Carina's musical family who worked closely on the making and touring of Tigermending, features re-workings of all eleven tracks from the original album, together with the physical release debut of the fan favourite bonus track “Got to Go” [2000 Years BC Remix] Feat. Carina Round has carved a singular path in music with her inimitable voice and stirringly varied compositions. Her uncompromising vision and thrilling versatility has garnered an immensely passionate fan base including a myriad of highly regarded musicians. Her fourth full-length,Tigermending comes from a painting by Amy Cutler where three women sit in a field dutifully stitching the bellies of a heap of helpless tigers.
Carina recounts, “The first time I saw the painting I stared at it for a long time not understanding why. The absurd image absorbed me. There was an innocent simplicity to it. The gentle putting back together of something most ferocious and wild mysteriously damaged to the point of submission.” Tigermending is produced with Grammy nominated writer Dan Burns, Carina collaborated with several notable artists including the legendary Dave Stewart, Brian Eno, and Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan.
Hailing from England, (but currently residing in LA) Carina had an innate determination and passion for music from an early age, which led her to record and self-release her first two albums, First Blood Mystery and The Disconnection. The former shaped by erratic yet engaging sounds drawing from her love of legends Patti Smith, Tom Waits and Jeff Buckley. The latter took those influences into much more powerful and personal realms.
These two albums led to her being signed by Interscope Records, who re-released The Disconnection album in 2004. This brought Carina US bound to LA where she recorded her bewitching and seductive album Slow Motion Addict with acclaimed producer, Glen Ballard.
A couple of years later, after parting ways with Interscope, Carina toured with Annie Lennox and self-released her ethereal and nakedly confessional EP, Things You Should Know. Her new songs were featured in films & TV shows and a number of radio stations, including KCRW, championed her music. Carina became a touring member of Puscifer, Tool’s Maynard James Keenan’s band and worked on their latest album Conditions of My Parole.
