Originally released in 2007 This was Thurston's first solo outing since 1995's Psychic Hearts. From original 2007 Press release: “Thurston recorded primarily on acoustic guitar and bass, laying down the core of the tunes with drummer compatriot Sonic Youth's Steve Shelly and violinist Samara Lubelski, a noted player from MV/EE and The Golden Road, Hall of Fame and other awesome gatherings as well as solo artiste. Thurston grabbed John Agnello to record and mix the sucker after having a helluva good time with the bro from working on Sonic Youth's 2006 killer Rather Ripped.
They decided to work in Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis' Bisquiteen studio (the top floor in J's Amherst house actually) where Dino did their Beyond album. This worked out very nicely as it allowed Thurston to yell down the stairs every time he needed a shredding guitar solo and J would trundle up, plug in and BURN.
Other guests on "trees outside..." are Christina Carter, she of Charalambides, and she of the most beatific, beautific voice on land, sea and air. One track called Honest James has Thurston and Christina singing duet against a single acoustic guitar and it is a naked groove.
The otherworldly Canadian musician Andrew Macgregor aka "Gown" plays some spectacularly understated and incredible guitar and Sunburned Hand of The Man's John Moloney takes over the drum stool to absolutely flail on the pit snarling Wonderful Witches.
And then there's the 20 seconds or so of primal noise wave courtesy of American noise underground genius Leslie Keffer on Off Work. Most of the tunes are lyric driven but there are a couple of majestic instrumentals like Trees Outside The Academy, which brings the album to a musical and breathless close.
There's also some weird cassette tape that Thurston found at his mom's of him at 13 years old in the early 70s making some kind of sound-theatre.”

Geoff Tyson Music
Release Date: 31/07/2020
“Great songs and stellar playing. Interesting production and mixing ideas too, making it all a fun musical ride.” – Joe Satriani
Acclaimed American guitarist Geoff Tyson will release his first instrumental guitar album on CD, vinyl and digital download on Friday July 31, 2020. Distributed by Cargo Records, Geoff is getting back to his guitar-hero roots with a cutting-edge guitar instrumental album with sounds ranging from blistering rhythm and solo performances, to production vibes that range from heavy rock, to 1980’s Brit-pop.
Geoff recorded and produced the album himself, drawing from his years of experience writing and producing for countless artists, and writing music for HBO, MTV, Disney, and the UFC. “Guitar was my first love,” reflects Geoff. “I first met Joe Satriani when I was 13 and he helped to develop my passion for playing guitar. I soon became one of his favorite students, along side Alex Skolnick, Steve Vai, Kirk Hammet and Charlie Hunter.” “Satriani and I met weekly for about 2 ½ years, and he became my mentor and inspiration, always challenging me to do something unique and personal. It’s a lesson I have applied to all aspects of my musical endeavors. Over time, as popular music trends changed, I evolved into a singer-songwriter, recording engineer, producer, and recording studio entrepreneur.”
“After much encouragement from Satriani and fans, I decided to finally do this instrumental guitar album. Guitar music has changed over the years, so I did a lot of internet research. Wow, there is so much talent in the world today! I knew I had to create something that encompassed my experience and skills.” “For my main instrument, I experimented with a variety of guitar brands, pickups, necks, and wood types. I eventually chose something that was definitely not a shredder guitar, but rather a hybrid that was a bit difficult to play. You can hear me struggling with the instrument on the recordings which I feel gives it a feeling of intensity. The rediscovery of the instrument was cathartic, and a big part of the artistic process.” “As a producer, I love the old classic rock albums, but I also love classic and modern synth and ambient styles. When I was a kid, all the metal guys secretly had Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, and Blondie albums in their collections. These styles influence my tastes to this day. Good music is universal. My new album has elements from decades of these great musical styles.” “I partnered with the great Czech drummer Eduard Štěpánek (Dymytry, Abraxas) and recorded it at home and at various Prague recording studios. Recording and producing it on my own gave me the freedom to experiment and get really wild with things.”

“One Alone,” the debut solo LP from Alice In Chains lead singer/guitarist, William DuVall, is a smoldering all-acoustic affair, a late-night meditation on heartbreak, triumph, and hard-won lessons. This recording is as intimate as it gets, like a private living room concert. It’s the perfect contrast to Alice In Chains’s recent UK arena tour in May of this year.
“After three albums and numerous world tours with Alice In Chains, as well as creating the Giraffe Tongue Orchestra album (w/ Brent Hinds of Mastodon and Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan), and, of course, my catalog of albums and tours with Comes With The Fall, I felt the need to peel everything back to the bare bones. This album is strictly one voice, one guitar. It reveals the very core of who I am as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter.” - William DuVall

Very Fried Artists
Put together by JJ Watt from The Main Grains, the band also features Dennis Post (Warrior Soul, Flush The Fashion) and Berty Burton (Tigertailz) & Dave Sanders (Falling Red).
‘Things That Never Were’ is debut album which was produced by the band themselves and mastered by Wildhearts and Professionals producer Dave Draper. Featuring guest appearances by Kory Clarke (Warrior Soul) and Tracii Guns (LA Guns), as well as Billy Tee and Alex Holmes (The Suicide Notes).
“The album is mainly a selection of songs I had in various stage of demo, including a couple that were planned for use with The Main Grains, one was a live staple of our show, and a few new tracks. It seemed like a great idea to get them recorded, and, things grew from there. Lyrically, its mainly a commentary on things we see in the world, feelings, and, self-reflection, but, hopefully it translates in a way that can speak to different people in different ways.
Press Quotes"The bands opening offering is the Boombastic single ‘Best Of You’. The cut resonates like 70’s Punk and 90’s Rock cracking skulls in the New Wave disco at the bottom of MTV street. The sneering riff slices the ears before the untipped rasping and gasping vocals creep up on you like a Tyson Fury kidney punch." - Guy Shankland, OriginalRock.net
