Ace City Racers 'Different Angle / Wilko'

Ace City Racers’ double A-side "Different Angle/Wilko" – a collaboration with artist and musician Danny Saunders. This special release on a limited edition, 7 “ vinyl was produced by Sam Smith at Green Door Studios (The Amazing Snakeheads, Casual Sex), featuring lyrics and guest vocals from Domino Records artist Saunders (Correcto) and was debuted at Jim Lambie’s legendary Poetry Club.

Originally commissioned by Patricia Fleming Projects for DISCORDIA, a part of Generation and the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme celebrating the last 25 years of visual art in Scotland. Ace City Racers specialise in jangular, short, sharp, sexy pop songs. Discovered by Stephen Street and, they recorded and released their first single “Waiting" via Fred Perry and Alcopop Records.

Since then the band have put on a series of guerrilla art gigs at unusual locations and have picked up a few admirers along the way including Johnny Marr.  The past few months have seen Ace City Racers play storming sets at the Poetry Club and Indietracks festival.

The single is a taster from the bands forthcoming debut album "Take It, It’s Yours”.

“Sounds like Roxy migrated to London to hang with Soft Boys and Blur. No bad thing I say!” – Johnny Marr, The Smiths

“These Glasgow chaps come in like early Blur with an 80s jerk pop edge and nice crunchy guitar lines.” – Gill Mills, NME Radio

“The future of intelligent pop music.” – Evening Times

“Ace City Racers... retain a rugged edge and a penchant for all things raw. This new 7" single, Different Angle, is dedicated to the audio-visual triumphs of that place that's just a little cooler than Yorkshire: Scotland.” – Norman Records

“Ace City Racers woke everyone up and were in no mood to pander to the hung-over amongst the crowd... they sped through a set of punky tunes – a great way to start any Saturday.” – Buzzin Music.
