Fuelled by London ‘luxury living’ and increasing rents, HOUSEWIVES sell their guitars and decamp to house-boats to write TWILIGHT SPLENDOUR Written mainly in Wetherspoons, cafes and anywhere with an electrical supply that wasn’t a solar panel; Twilight Splendour sees Housewives turn away from performance based writing, the human, and face into the cold light of computers; synthesized instrumentation and mathematical arrangement.
Retreating from a collective writing process Housewives have now become isolated; focused on the minute details of feeling. Spending their time alone; scrolling, layering endless generated instrument simulations and chains of processing to create a fully automated consumable album.
Offering a synthesised form of expression that feels endless and yet more human than previously possible, the songs are ecstatic messages of frustration and a desire to connect. Twilight splendour, is a love letter from an early AI to it’s calm dull, owner / user / lover.
Written in solitude, the songs are messages of frustration, loneliness and other meticulously crafted, complex coded simulations of once real emotions. It’s an Instagram wedding proposal. Everything considered. An audience is conceived and, is assumed, wide eyed and waiting. A mild saccharine smile. Barely visible beneath awash of pink floodlights. A wink. A nod to them that says you’ve waited for this. And it is. Finally. For you. With friends in mind so to speak. And all with love to the wondrous AI! The writing partner. The forgiving friend. It’s a love letter to the future from an embarassed past. Begging forgiveness. Saying please don’t look at me like that….I’m sorry.
