    The Lovely Eggs 'Eggsistentialism' PRE-ORDER

    £12.99

    Release Date: 17/05/2024

The Lovely Eggs will release their seventh new album “Eggsistentialism” on Friday May 17th on Egg Records. Their third collaboration with Grammy Award winning producer Dave Fridmann, “Eggsistentialism” will be released on ltd edition “mind green” green 12” vinyl with more breath taking mind boggling art-work by illustrator Casey Raymond.

“Eggsistentialism” sees The Lovely Eggs return after a 4 year break since their Number One Independent Selling Album “I am Moron”. During that time they have made their own TV show Eggs TV (featuring Ian McKaye, Stewart LeeKatie Puckrik, Maxine Peake, David Shrigley and more), dueted with Iggy Pop, played a load of sold-out gigs and festivals and fought a campaign to save Lancaster Music Co-op (a community rehearsal rooms and recording studio where they live).

Recorded at home in Lancaster, with production advice from Dave Fridmann, the album was mixed at Tarbox Road Studios, NY with Dave Fridmann and the band.

As the title suggests, “Eggsistentialism” explores a much more personal, introspective, and reflective side to The Lovely Eggs world and sees the Eggs explore new sounds and experiment in unventured musical territories.

“The new album is really a reflection on what has been happening to us these last couple of years, stewing up in Eggland in our own juices,” explains Holly. “It’s about loss and strength. On this album you’ll hear us at our lowest and most vulnerable. Daily life is hard. Realising everything you grew up with and loved is never coming back, alongside the responsibilities of caring for others is sometimes hard to take. The album is about life and death. Eggsistentialism. It’s about dragging yourself through all the shit to get to the other side.”

“It’s a bit of a ‘wilderness years’ album,” continues Holly. “We haven’t released a new record since 2020 and in the meantime, we’ve been here fighting shit and trying to defend a right to a lifestyle that we’ve enjoyed here in this town for the last 30+ years as working musicians who refuse to get a “normal” job and tow the line. It’s about believing in something and not letting go. But that unwillingness to give in ultimately takes its toll. It does start to destroy you and the album is kind of a documentation of that destruction and collapse as well as the strength we’ve got to get through it all. Ultimately, this is a hopeful record about survival.”

For the last two years, The Lovely Eggs have sat back and watched England and the rest of the planet slowly eat itself. Their new album I am Moron'is the result of their observations, a relentless analysis of a modern culture that is bringing the world to its knees. 'I am Moron' is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2017 album 'This is Eggland'. It is their second album co-produced and mixed by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Tame Impala) and continues their journey through Eggland into the unknown.

Throughout their 13 year career, TLE have embraced isolation. Both metaphorically and geographically the married couple have chosen to shun the social conventions of normal life and dedicated their band and their life to the pursuit of what feels right. Operating out of their hometown of Lancaster TLE are lonely pioneers and self confessed kings of idiocy.

Working in an industry whose currency is money, success and nepotism, TLE want none of it. They call out everything fake and plastic about the music industry and demand you to re-evaluate on their terms. They're undoubtedly the most real band in Britain, operating in a world when true authenticity is hard to find.

They have also spent more time on hold to the Working Tax credit hotline than any other band on the planet. 'I Am Moron' was self recorded by the band in Lancaster ('The Twin Peaks of Northern England') between Lancaster Musicians Co-op and their home.

During the recording, Lancaster Musicians Co-op was threatened with closure so the band put their album on hold to fight the eviction. Continuing the heaviness of 'This is Eggland' 'I am Moron' brings more depth to their sound bringing with it a mix of heavy psych, pop and strangeness. Some songs flicker between an earthly realism and the otherworldly loneliness of a one way space mission.

While in contrast, Insect Repellent launches a gonzo-style attack against the middle classes and Bearpit questions the essence of working class freedom. With no booking agent, manager, record label or publisher TLE are truly independent. And support for them is snowballing.

They are selling out bigger and bigger venues and more eggheads are joining them in their crusade against bullshit. TLE say it how it is. They've never been afraid to swim against the current and now they've got an army of fans behind them. Don't miss out on the most collectible record of the year!

Northern psychedelic punks The Lovely Eggs return with a mind-melting new album. The Lovely Eggs are one of the most unique, innovative and genuine bands on the British Underground music scene. Heavier and more in-your-face than anything they've done previously, Holly Ross (guitar/vocals) and David Blackwell (drums) bring together a fierce DIY ethos, surreal sense of humour and kitchen-sink realism.

Working with a producer for the very first time, Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev, The Flaming Lips) lends his magic dust to bring out the best of The Lovely Eggs'explosive blend of motoric krautrock, 60s psychedelia and punk rock attitude. They create their own world and invite us to join them in Eggland. The album title is a cheeky nod to Shane Meadows'series, This Is England. It is a comment on the current state of modern Britain.

The album is about being an outsider and doing things differently, eschewing society's conventions as they have done. Since having their son in 2013, the pair have taken him on tour with them, racing round the UK with 2 fingers up to conventional family life firmly out of the window.

They have also remained in their hometown of Lancaster, despite its cultural and geographical isolation. As Holly explains; 'On this album we're saying it's OK to live life differently, we're doing it and you can do it too! 'Living up here in Lancaster is kind of mad. It's a bit like the Twin Peaks of Great Britain.' The town has a rich history of the witchcraft, notoriously it was where the Pendle witches were hanged'.

For the first time ever, the pair worked with a producer on the new album, welcoming in legendary Grammy award winning engineer Dave Fridmann to their world. 'We received an email from Dave Fridmann. He had got our answerphone message, listened to our stuff and wanted to work with us. It was just totally bizarre!' The album was self-recorded at Lancaster Musician's Co-op and the Eggs'own house. Dave Fridmann then produced it remotely. They then went out to Dave's Studio in New York State, for mixing.

The result is a gratifyingly rich sounding record, which still retains the raw energy of the band's sound but harnesses a real power and dynamism. It's much heavier than anything they've done before. As Holly says: 'It's pretty relentless. It kind of sounds like a chip shop on fire. We still write about everyday life and the stuff that goes on in our world, it's just the new album is more fierce'.

The Lovely Eggs have been nudging towards a heavier sound with their previous album This Is Our Nowhere, which was praised by the NME, who called them; 'One of the country's most beloved underground bands.' Having formed in Paris in 2006, they named themselves after a pigeon laid two eggs on an abandoned nest on the windowsill. To celebrate their 10th anniversary last year, they reissued their first three albums on coloured vinyl. The band have built up a cult following, selling out gigs across the UK, as well as gaining support from 6 Music and Radio One.

This Is Eggland is a giant leap forward in their wild-ride of a career. The album is like listening in on The Lovely Eggs'own secret world, with philosophical songs about the mysteries of the universe ('Hello I Am Your Sun'), to abandoning ' the grass is always greener' mentality ('Wiggy Giggy'), to being on the wrong side of society or the music industry ('I'm With You') and several inspired by local witchcraft. Unashamed to be themselves and have fun while they're at it, The Lovely Eggs weave an intoxicatingly magnetic magic spell and we're helplessly and willingly falling under it.

    1. Hello I Am Your Sun
    2. Wiggy Giggy
    3. Dickhead

The Lovely Eggs return in 2015 with a new single, album and two UK tours. The oddball D.I.Y punk rock pair have been selling out venues across the country without the help of management, booking agent or record label support. And true to form they return with their fourth self-produced and self-recorded album 'This is Our Nowhere': a title which sums up their celebration and love of a scene which doesn't exist in the eyes of the manufactured mainstream.

The Lovely Eggs have been relative outsiders to the music industry since 2006 with their unrelenting touring, single and album releases. But their 'fuck it' attitude and DIY punk rock spirit has won the hearts of many fans, gaining them an increasingly loyal live following as well as huge support from DJs at BBC 6 Music, Radio One and XFM where they have recorded sessions for all three stations.

'This Is Our Nowhere' cements their reputation as one of the most exciting, innovative and genuine bands on the Great British Underground scene. With songs firmly set in the hum drum of everyday life, The Lovely Eggs turn normality on its head, squeezing it through their peculiar surreal mincing machine and blending it with fuzzed out guitar and crashing drums. For Holly and David being in a band is a way of life. And they approach it in a unique way laughing in the face of life's absurdities.

They are a rallying point for anyone that sees life for what it is. A mess. A wonderful, car crash of experiences, greeting each new chance with a cheeky grin, a sneer and a big fuck you to the pricks. Released on the band's own label Egg Records on May 4th (with a special black and white coloured vinyl limited edition release for Record Store Day on April 18th) 'This Is Our Nowhere' brings an essential addition to an already impressive discography, with lead single from the album Magic Onion'providing a raucous punked up psyche trip of nonsensical perfection.
