Originally self-released by Nick Saloman and limited to just 500 copies, the debut from The Bevis Frond marked the beginning of a highly influential career in underground British neo-psych-rock.
Armed with a four-track portastudio, the success of 1986's 'Miasma' saw it unexpectedly sell-out quickly with a repress not far behind. Sounding as bracing today as it did then, it collects some of Saloman's finest songs. Having played in bands since the late 60's, and constantly writing, Saloman had founded The Von Trap Family and played in Room 13.
In fact, he had almost called it a day, but it was the popularity of 'Miasma' that saw him continue onward and establish himself as an underground legend. A labour of love and fiercely independent, his prolific output has seen as many releases in as many years and an uncompromising vision under his own label Woronzow.
Hailed as 'a Hendrix devotee ever bit as tough and contemporary as the serrated guitar chorales of Sonic Youth and Pixies' by Rolling Stone's David Fricke, his immense psych-stoner-rock has seen him become a cult figure in his own right. The Bevis Frond's legion of loyal fans includes Teenage Fanclub, Dinosaur Jr and Mary Lou Lord, who have all covered his music.

'Nick Saloman is psychedelia's true acid minstrel, equally at home lulling his listeners with an acoustic guitar as bulldozing them with an electric.' Aural Innovations

'Superseeder marks a return to the sort of extended raga-like acid rock workout that typified early Bevis Frond releases.. the whole album is excellent.' Allmusic
Released on Nick Saloman's label Woronzow in 1995, The Bevis Frond's Superseeder'arrived after Sprawl'.
At this point, Nick began releasing albums annually compared with his earlier recordings that would see multiple releases per year. Soaring and melodic rock workouts prevail with a notably strong rhythm section making this record another favourite.
Eastern tinged opener Superseded', I Can't Cry'and 17-minute House Of Mountains'are exemplary workouts whilst the garage-punk of Dolly Bug'takes a different tone as do Golden Walks Of London'and Queen Of May'which have more traditional British influences.
Playing many instruments on the record, Nick continues here to work with his live band with Andy Ward on the drums, Adrian Shaw on bass and guest second guitarist Bari Watts returns (tracks 6 & 12). Superseeder'is reissued on double LP, single CD and download, it's released alongside Sprawl'and It Just Is'on Fire Records ahead of their 30th anniversary year in 2017.

'Another collection of self-recorded, plays-every-instrument-pop/psych-rock' All Music.
A special 20th anniversary reissue out on double LP limited edition white vinyl that comes with new artwork. It's end of the millennium music, an album from 1999 when we were all convinced that Y2K was going to take out the whole planet at midnight on December 31.
It's The Bevis Frond's 17th studio album, filled with half recalled dreams and acquaintances - there's Don Lang (a 1950s trombonist who died earlier in the decade), there's Jesus (an omnipresent head who danced barefoot at all those Roundhouse gigs in the 70s), there's Wilson, Kepple And Betty doing the One Leg Sand Dance', Che Guevara, John And Yoko, Joe The Dealer, there's the girl in In Your Eyes'who couldn't make breaking up any harder.
This is introspection at its best, a lo-fi mighty personal verse with a huge aching chorus.
