There is nothing more beautiful or so alluring than self-deceit. In a World full of dead ends there is little to hold onto. One sees oneself in how one stands in relation to others. That can be a lonely picture. Lies, therefore, dominate. Sedge grows in the fen flourishing in the water burning the blood of everyone who touches it. There is no cure. When all seems lost, something unexpected happens. To taint beyond redemption, The World That Summer.

NERUS, in association with Soleilmoon Recordings, announces the availability of the standard digipak edition of Death In June’s “The World That Summer”. This
edition follows the shock-and-awe carved soapstone box with double CD version released in December 2006. That edition, limited to 1000 copies and now sold out, already commands a stiff premium on eBay.

Death In June is the musical brainchild of English folk musician Douglas Pearce, better known as Douglas P. Death In June was originally formed in Britain in 1981 as a trio, but after the other members left in 1985 to work on other projects, the group became the work of Douglas Pearce and various collaborators. Pearce now lives in Australia.

Over Death In June's two decades of existence, numerous shifts in style and presentation have occurred, resulting in an overall shift from initial post-punk and Industrial Records influence to an overall more acoustic and folk music-oriented approach. Although sometimes considered controversial, Death In June has become very influential in certain post-industrial musical circles. Pearce's
influence was instrumental in sparking neofolk, which his music has subsequently become a part of.

NERUS is Death In June’s new American imprint. The label was launched in 2005 with a collectible T-Shirt (NERUS 1). “The World That Summer - 20th Anniversary Edition”, issued in 2006, was the label’s second release, followed in the first two months of 2007 by “The Phoenix Has Risen” and “Take Care And Control”.

Originally released in 1996 as Scorpion Wind's 'Heaven Sent' CD/LP this album has long been considered the lost'classic collaboration between Death In June's Neo-Folk pioneer Douglas P. and Industrial Music's renegade innovator Boyd Rice.

Recorded in Australia prior to the pair starring in the cult film Pearls Before Swine', it is a unique, melodic and richly orchestrated ode to modern living, modern loving - and modern hating.

Joined by percussionist John Murphy (ex-SPK, The Associates, Current 93) for the first of what was to prove many collaborations between the Unregistered 3'and young Australian group Strength Through Joy (now Ostara), these recordings proved to be the perfect follow up to 1990's ground-breaking Boyd Rice & Friends album 'Music, Martinis & Misanthropy'. However, due to legal problems with distribution, few were to hear this.

Now for the first time in nearly ten years a digitally remastered CD is available including two extra tracks from the era and stunning new artwork, presented in a red and black foil-blocked 'Softpak'.

Another in the 'Cleanse The Hand That Feeds You' Leprosy Discs series, this exercise in exorcism is a sonically double edged ritual.

Whilst the original 2001 release saw the return of the classic Death In June instrumentation of acoustic guitars and trumpet, with the addition of accordion by Andreas Ritter (Forseti), industrial elements also permeate half the album.

Out of print for several years, the reissued CD comes in a foil blocked Softpak.

Whilst some people try to re-write history, Death In June continues to reclaim it.

These recently discovered recordings were unknown to members of the group
until 2005. They feature a rehearsal studio recording in 1981 of nine songs, some of which were never named or released.

These are coupled with eight live songs from the seminal performance at Alan McGee's 'The Living Room' club in London, 9th September, 1983. It was on that fateful evening that Mr. McGee introduced Douglas P. to David Tibet. Musical history was never to be the same again.

Via Soleilmoon and NERUS these recordings now get a proper release and represent very rare and unheard archive material.

    The CD comes in a black and silver foil-blocked gatefold sleeve 'softpak' which includes a 9.5" x 9.5" (24cm x 24cm) double-sided poster.

    Tracklisting:

    1. We Drive East

The Snow Bunker Tapes' are the original guitar/Totenpop versions of the thirteen songs that became the 'Peaceful Snow' album.

'The Snow Bunker Tapes' were recorded between December 2009 and July 2010 at Big Sound Studios, Adelaide, Australia, and are the original recordings that were given to Miro Snejdr to transcribe onto his piano. They eventually became the 'Peaceful Snow' album, which was released on 9 November, 2010.

Although these songs were recorded in a studio setting, no track is as sonically built as most Death In June songs are. There are no samples, multi-tracked vocals, effects or even percussion, and studio editing has been kept to a minimum so you can hear talking between some tracks.

Douglas P, in describing the material, said To paraphrase one of Alan McGee's favourite lines, 'It's pure (Toten) pop!'

The CD and vinyl editions are packaged in deluxe glossy embossed gatefold covers.

Somewhere in the rainy, misty forests of the Pacific Northwest of America, three ladies have the unlikely task of sewing together the packaging for a new album by :zoviet*france::zoviet*france: are releasing 'The Tables Are Turning' on compact disc and double LP through Soleilmoon Recordings. The music was composed as the soundtrack to 'Designer Body', a dance that toured England from 2008 to 2009. The work explores the transformational relationship between humans and the clothing they wear. Seven dancers, performing on continuously rotating plinths, slowly remove layers of their costumes, revealing the sensuous nude bodies beneath.

The music accompanying the dancers is by turns dense and moody, then lyrical and soaring, underlining the mounting vulnerability of the dancers as they undress. Liv Lorent, balletLORENT's artistic director and choreographer, spoke with Kelly Apter, writer for The List, saying At the beginning, the body is the most designed it can be. They're wearing hats, coats, heavy costumes and make-up ' all the man-made and artificial things we do to disguise ourselves everyday. Then, over 50 minutes, we take it all away. And because there are several layers, there's a real sense of metamorphosis. The members of :zoviet*france:, who prefer to remain annonymous, write We've known Liv Lorent for a long time.

When she started to conceive 'Designer Body', which she wanted to be a hybrid of contemporary dance and performance art, she decided that an unconventional performance needed an unconventional soundtrack. The composition of the soundtrack and the choreography evolved alongside each other so it became a dialogue between Liv and ourselves.

The main inspiration that we took from the production's concept was rotation; throughout the one hour performance, the dancers are located on turntables that turn continuously, at varying speeds and changing direction. We mirrored this in much of the soundtrack, with circular and rotating sounds. Both formats (CD and double LP) are presented in a deluxe dual-layer green satin bag with fold-over flap.

The letters 'ZF' are hand-stitched into the flap in white thread, and a two-sided color insert printed on sturdy cardstock completes the package. There are 400 LPs and 600 compact discs in the first edition. The LP, with music on three of the four sides of the records, will go out of print when the initial pressing sells out.
